  1. Actually now that I think about it, I stopped the wheel as the collar reached 4 turns, leaving a little more for the wheel to complete 1 turn. Slightly higher than 4:1. Thus, my good Watson, resulting in a 4.10 gear ratio. Yeah!
  2. I don't see any visible stamping or tag for my MJ AMC 20 but I was told the truck was a 4spd or 5spd 4cyl. I rotated the wheel and counted the rotations of the diff. collar and came up with slightly below 4:1 ratio. Was there a 3.9 or 3.8 gear set? I will eventually de-gunk the entire axle and clean/inspect the interior but until then I was curious regarding the ratio. Hopefully I will see markings after the cleaning. I can't get to the front axle yet the way it is pushed up to a wall, or I would look for the ratio on that.
  3. I just removed the one from my parts truck, gave a quick cleaning and inspection. It is in good shape but I can't vouch for the pump. The rubber washer/gaskets around the pump assembly need replacing. I haven't checked into shipping from San Diego but $18 shipped should cover me. I can post pics tomorrow if you want.

    Gentleman?

Watch out Jim, it might be a ruse. Could be a Revenuer!
  6. We haven't closed the deal yet but if we do I'll hand it off to someone in Corona. I'll keep you updated.
  7. PM sent.
  8. I have a steering column from my parts truck going to a member in Las Vegas. We could save him shipping costs if someone has plans on going there in the near future. I would be willing to drive up to San Clemente or Corona if that helps with the relay.
  9. You need to buy a new front end cable for the shortbed. Napa has a good quality one that I've installed. You need to lift up your carpet between the e-brake and the access hole at the rear of the cab. The cable is held down in a couple places. It's not difficult but be sure to adjust the tension properly at the equalizes once you have it in place.
  10. I'll look into it. I think it was mountainman that said Greyhound shipping is very reasonable so, once I pull it, I'll check out Greyhound. I'll get back to you in a couple days.
  11. I can pull the one out of my parts truck if you have any contacts in the San Diego area. Shipping is a possibility but I doubt it's cheap.
  12. If both wiper and washer fluid pump went out at the same time, it's probably the lever on the steering column.
  13. Saw this on CL for sale. Image Not Found
  14. Sorry Steve, I thought you were in Central CA.
  15. JeepcoMJ has one in the "For Sale" section. He's in SE Wisconsin.

    Advice Column

Are you sure you didn't hit the sauce a little and ended up at the abandoned house about a half mile from your place? It wouldn't be the first time.

    Tech Files?

As far as photos are concerned, you need to copy/paste from a "public" photo website like photobucket. It can be a PITA sometimes but not too bad once you get used to it.

  21. I had to open a new tab at the toolbar to move back and forth between sites so I could transfer photos. I haven't tried the other things yet.
  22. Hey Steve Glad to hear from you. If #59 doesn't sell, I'll sell my 88 and use the $$ to fix up the SC. I'll keep you informed so you can stay updated for your website info. Mark
  23. It'll take getting used to and I definitely need mountainman's avatar to be much larger.
  24. I know this has been covered but I can't find the thread. My truck starts up when cold just fine. A little rough idle for a few seconds, then it's OK. The problem is if I drive a short distance (like the store, etc.) and turn off the motor and a few minutes later I try to start her up, she cranks and cranks but no start. It takes 2-3 attempts to finally start up. This scenario plays out EVERY time and is frustrating the heck out of me. This is with the 88,AW4, 4.0. Thanks for any help.

    I miss my MJ

I bet when you watch the movie 'Christine', you totally relate with the main character. And yes, it is weird or normal.
