The news report I saw was almost exactly like that article
-
This would be such an easy production mod on the JKU as they did with the prototype shown.

I can't tell is that true speculation or just sass. It was announced on local TV that the Grand Wagoneer is in the works.

I was just happy it was an exciting game

They are #7 on the USNews site and a site of grad school recommendations. MIT was first on both lists.

You have to be more specific the "tech." That must only mean something to someone who went there... :)>

Rumor has a Grand Wagoneer following 1 year behind the truck and on the same chassis

About this..... looks like the number is zero, not 27. :)

Front axle cocked over?
Incommando replied to desbennett004's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Some cheaper kits like rough country include instructions for re-drilling the lower tracbar mount to compensate for the lift. I personally would just get an adjustable but maybe someone saved the instructions for how to do that mod instead if you want to go that route -
Question on parts for doing SOA
Incommando replied to pitbull4x4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I used 5.5" front springs and used fixed bent LCAs and adjustable UCAs. Worked out well for setting pinion angle and to center wheels in the wheel wells. You might want to add spring perches to your rear parts list. Get the extended ones that help control spring wrap. -
You guys couldn't have even driven after dark in the halogen days let alone the pre-halogen days. ;)

front axle u joint upgrade
Incommando replied to fire797's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you don't change axles you are limited to the stock 260 series u joint. Just run spicer and call it a day -
Unless your M/Ts are heavily siped they are your main problem.

MJ/TJ/XJ/YJ/ZJ/KJ + are 5x4.5 JK is 5x5

97+ Conversion front/rear driveshaft
Incommando replied to Dzimm's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Driveline angle is no real problem even with the factory u-joint arrangement due the wheelbase. A t -case drop is not necessary . I am SOA without one with no issues. It sounds like you did a conversion to 4x4. If so a stock front shaft will be fine. For the rear have your factory shaft shortened. It is much cheaper. If you can't use your original then find a junk yard shaft with the same u-joints and have it shortened. -
Easy: if it is made in the US it is an Aussie. If it is not it is a Chinese Lokka. Go to Lokka's website and you will see they tout "Australian" engineering not manufacture. ;) Buy one and see where the origin of manufacture is....
-
I had an Aussie shatter in the rear of my KJ. That led me to look into it and discover that I had a Chinese Lokka version. I waited a few months and replaced it with an American made Aussie. But lunchbox failures do seem rare. Spring and pin wear are about it.
-
Aussie Lockers *were* made in Australia by Lokka under license. Things were swell. Then Lokka started using Chinese metal and parts and failures skyrocketed. Things could not be worked out so Aussie ended its agreement with Lokka and moved production to the US using US steel while also updating some designs. Lokka continues to make the Lokka with Chinese components and sells them cheap. Aussie has not had any connection with Lokka in years. The info is out there. I say good day, sir

I got them from jeep for my '88 but that has been 6 or 7 years ago

What scares me is what the current guy is going to pull in the next 9 weeks or so

I had an '05 KJ Liberty with a 6 speed. My JKU is 6 Speed as well. Neither were stripped base models

What lift to get for my mj
Incommando replied to Bubseth's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not if you're using springs that are effectively lowering springs. Been there done that: 2wd springs SOA on a 4wd got me 5.25". And those are worn 230,000 mile springs -

Rough Country gets their name from their ride quality. Try Zone. -
Steering for 5.5" lift
Incommando replied to jeepjack54's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Stock steering works fine but the beefier V8 ZJ tre mentioned above is a skid upgrade for strength
