Best bang for the buck front axle? Arguably a HP D30 like you have but with added trussing. Add either chrome moly shafts or something like Iron Rock's "almost alloy" shafts. It is bolt in and go and probably equal to a LP D44 especially the Rubicon front.

4.5" is the most common answer for that. It depends on what you want to do with your truck. You could get away with less if off-road flex wasn't important. You made need wheel spacers as factory rims use like 5.25" and around 4" works better. Cheap black steel rims are a good option.

That flat black stripe along the bottom is a common trick to hide bad spots
