  1. I've been running the small corner window mount mirrors (old style) for a year or two now, but I think I'm going back to the frame mount style. I just like the look.
  2. IIRC, it's hydraulic motors mid mounted in the chassis, with chains in the 'control arms' to the final drives. Hence the 'Chainlink' name. Suspension is obviously active. Very cool. I can't believe people are talking crap about it.
  3. so what's it using to drive, hydraulic motors? Looks badass.
  4. What are those leafs out of? They look pretty heavy. And what kind of rear is that? Certainly does look badass though.
  5. a truck can get "stuck" on flat ground on ice. It just takes a little push. I had to nudge a tractor/lowbed at work today in a similar situation. Just needed to get that little touch of momentum.
  6. I've repaired tubular trailer frames by having "C" channels custom bent. This of course cost some $$$ (not mine of course).

    MPG?

24 on the highway is I keep her at 60, but I can't do that for long so I dip down into the low 20s. I average about 19-20 city/highway.
  8. Well atleast if you have to take it out, there shouldn't be a rust issue on the bolts.

    88 ford

I had an 89 tempo years back and one of the motors went. There were these little plastic I guess you'd call them planetaries around the motor output shaft. They just crapped out one day. But for all 4 windows to go bad, I'd look for something else.
  10. Thanks alot..... now I'm gonna spend more money on stuff I don't need
  11. my father used to have one of those as a beater. Coolest friggin thing ever. He gave it away to someone who's car just crapped out.... they used it for a few weeks and junked it :fs1:
  12. the 50 second mark makes me wanna cry. What a tough rig.
  13. They're a nice compromised between a van and a larger truck. A local electric motor company uses two of them, and had me set up a sliding beam and trolley setup in the back though could slide out the back of the van to pick up heavy motors and such. They're definitely well built.
  14. Yea, the height's an issue. But the thing is, if you break the 3 pieces apart, you can definitely mount the buckets lower to the floor. The problem that arises here is that then the middle seat would be higher that the buckets, and so the armrest would be kinda wierd. I wasn't sure which way to go, so being time-limited I went this route first, and the little extra height's been fine. Thanks. Somebody on this site picked up a similar set of seats, but I think they were only gonna use the buckets.
  15. oh.... yea that's me with the yellow car in the signature. Most of the guys are just clowning around, but some really don't know anything. Oh well. What I thought up until now was that he either had it in 4wd, or he had a locker in the front (or both). What else could it be? At first I thought it must have had a front locker, causing it to constantly spin, but then I realized that after the break, the thing kept spinning, causing the damage to the floorpan and such. But then somehow, he was able to tie it up. All this makes me think it must have been in 4wd. Any other input would be great. Matt
  16. One of the kids on my local mustang board had quite the issue with his jeep. Its an 89 wrangler, and basically the straps on the front DS broke and his ds spun around beating the crap out of the exhaust and floorboard. My knowledge of these trucks is weak, but I'm thinking he mustve been in 4wd for this to happen. (Otherwise the t-case wouldn't be engaged, or did that have full-time back then). Either way, let me know what could have happened here. If you want to see some pictures, click here: (slight language warning) http://www.listangs.com/forum/viewtopic ... &sk=t&sd=a
  17. filled her up.
  18. Always been a big fan of Chilmark Chocolates.
  19. That was me. I never got around to doing a full write-up, and my laptop had to courtesy of crashing with all the pics on it. But I'll try to snap a few pics for you. I got the seat out of a ~97 dakota. I'm very happy with it. That would be really cool. Thanks. Was it a 60/40 split or a 40/20/40 split? Doesn't really matter, as long as its a split. How hard was the bracketry conversion? It's a 40/20/40. I had to make all new brackets, but it wasn't too hard. I did the whole project by myself in I wanna say around 6 hours. (If I had help it woulda be 10x easier.) The only thing I don't like is that the way all the seats are held together, even with the middle seat sitting on the trans tunnel, you sit a good bit higher than a stock mj seat. I'm 5'10" and I have no problem, but if you're way tall its something to think about. Here's a few pictures I way able to dig up: On the front I basically just welded a piece of angle to the bottom of the dakota rails, then bent/cut the stock mj front mounts and welded them up. On the outside rear mounts, I welded a bolt to a small plate, and welded that to the frame rail. On the inside rears, there was a height difference so I used tube as you can see to space myself up. Lastly, I used washers on the rear mounts as shims to make everything level and slide nice. That's about it really. I'm really happy with it so far. The seats are comforatable, and the optional middle seat is great. This seat also has a great cupholder built in. The only problem that I've had is that the recline handles on the side are real close to the door pockets on my truck, so its a pain to adjust with the doors closed. Hope this helped. If you have any quesitons, feel free to ask.

  21. I made one of these in boy scouts a few years back. I made a trike, with an r/c car rear end/trans, and did pretty well. It was the fastest @#$%er there, but it didn't track straight and my distance wasn't terrific. However I do remember that someone used CD's and did very well on distance.
  22. The highest ford ever put in an 8.8 was 4.10.
  23. Yes, they use c-clips. If an axle breaks, it slides out. You can avoid this by running C-clip eliminators or 9" axle tube ends. All I had to do to mine was cut and re-weld the perches, and shorten my DS a little bit. As for disc brakes, the only added mod is hooking up the parking brake.
  24. I made a cable actuated setup using a throttle cable and a few misc. items and never looked back. I'd suggest this route for a dd.
  25. The body of my 86 has in the 70s. The donor truck I got (87) had 273k. The trans was recently rebuilt and I got a reman 4.0 before it went into my 86.
