It will still be there next year, don't worry.

Pete - Jefferson City, my dad has that old crinkled comanche bed (no rust though that I remember) out behind his garage. If you feel like heading up there I'll you his number.

Light off road occasionally. I expect 1000 miles or less per year usage. -

This is relevant because I'm debating 31x10.5r15 VS 235/75/15, goodyear wrangler authority VS goodyear Duratec. I'm using the stock jeep steel wheels. And pulling the trigger today on the purchase. No lift or mods wanted. Stock 87 MJ 4x4. Thoughts? -

Heck man I'm tempted to send my truck up to you to finish up. Great work.

Making some more progress. Getting new brake lines on the rear, wire wheeled the D35 axle, and put in new shocks. Also got the old bumper pulled off. The passenger floorboard is solid, but barely. The drivers side is toast a good ways past the transfer case. Any thoughts on where to best get metal (and what kind to get) to patch this up? I'm new at welding but this is a great truck to start with.

Looks good bud, wish I had those painting skills!

Sure, when you get to the point of installing your harness, a picture of both ends and the connectors would be quite helpful. Appreciate it. How is your install going? I just got the compressor and alternator bracket for mine, going to get the rest of the pieces over the next month.

What's the deal with the necessary wiring harness? Just thinking I might build my own.

Excellent. Yes can you send me a quote for the parts to I'm.... Zip 32703 Thanks
-
Yes, I am still looking. Need the under hood stuff especially the hard lines and compressor/alt bracket. I would much appreciate it.
-
Yes sir I'm looking for the AC system. Need hard lines, compressor brackets and such.

There has to be some other provision for the idle control, with the plethora of dealer installed kits, there must be a supplemental harness or wire as described above. The A/C compressor must be triggered to engage somehow, on period GMs the engagement happened through the ECU which also bumped up the idle.

I have an 87. Serpentine belt setup. The compressor mounts above where the alternator is, and the upper hose routes around the back of the compressor. Eagle - congrats I saw you just got your setup. I'm next.
-
All - I need the following pieces for the A/C in my 2.5 MJ. I'd be happy to look at any parts, but I especially need 1. Compressor mounting bracket. 2. Metal underhood hard lines. Thanks in advance.

110k AX15 & 4.0 In Florida
WesD replied to ComancheFan's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
There's 2. 86 2.5 and a 89 4.0. Both looked pretty complete. The ecm for the 4.0 is sitting in the floor. -
91 Eliminator 83K miles refresh with NOS parts
WesD replied to Red Mistress's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
My 1987 has those plastic surrounds as well. nice find on the NOS parts. Let me know if you come across another bumper, I'm in the market for one. -
Made a little progress today, worked on pulling the seat. Three bolts on the pax side, and one on the drivers side came out. I'll end up cutting the drivers rear bracket, and the passenger front bracket. is it difficult to find new seat brackets? I figured I could reweld them if I cut it correctly, worst case. Also ripped out the vinyl flooring to look at the rust damage. It's worse than I had hoped.

Made some great progress. First, Pete set me up with a long bed and even helped me pull it. Then, I found a rear glass and tailgate locally. Finally got the wheels pulled and brakes unlocked. Drove it up the drive way first time in 17 years. Interior cleaned and getting ready to pull the seat and flooring.

Was the engine originally a 2.5? Still have the AC compressor bracket off it, if so?
