There are connector views at the end. I believe there is only one it two dash harnesses so you will have multiple connectors that go to nothing. There are connector for virtually all the options so these would go no where with that option. Hopefully this will help. Welcome to the club.

I have had 2 or 3 of these now. Let's just say exhaust is hot. All of them have not been smooth at the speedometer. I have found living the cable helps allot. I would do it when you install it. IMHO

I believe you are holding part number 2 in your hand the cable should just unscrew. The OEM cable had the nice nut the aftermarket went cheap.

You can buy a reprint of the service manual but make sure you get one that is two books. The original from 86 was only 1 book. I know this beacuse well I have both now. The reprint is nice quality. eBay $80 + shipping.
