If I remember correctly, it was parked because of rear end damage? Am I correct? I think the reason is in your build thread, I’m just too lazy to go looking.

Thank you!

Bench Seat vs Bucket Seats: which do you prefer?
89 MJ replied to comanche47's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My girlfriend (who is yet to ride in the MJ (but I’ve only been driving it for a few weeks)) is also part of the reason why I keep my bench. -
Here is the write up for my rear lift bastard pack/Add-a-Leaf.
-
So today I took and made a bastard back AAL for my MJ. I took oil a set of 3in XJ lift springs and my set of stock MJ springs to make this happen. The XJ lift springs had the same arch as the MJ springs, so I think this could be done with 2 sets of MJ springs as well. 1. Take 3rd leaf from top off XJ lift springs 2. Cut end off 1/4 of an inch inside (closer to the center) of the spring from the bracket that holds all of the springs together. (U-shaped braket near ends of spring) 3. Remove centering pin nut. (pin that goes in to hole in spring perch on axle) 4. Remove overload spring on MJ leaf pack. 5. Put cut XJ spring and Overload spring on. Overload on the bottom, XJ spring on top of that. 6. Put centering pin but back on (pin that goes in to hole in spring perch on axle). You should be able to reuse your stock one safely. 7. Reattach spring plates and u-bolts. This is needs to be done with the truck up in the air. Also, I found this made the ride better and the truck feels way more stable. I already had 3in lift springs in the front to make it sit level. I wanted some rake, so I did this. It is kinda hard to see inmpucs, but... Before: After:

Be sure to check under the carpet for rust! What are your plans for it? -
The logos on that are sweet. Do you plan on trying to preserve the patina after fixin the A pillar and roof?

Bench Seat vs Bucket Seats: which do you prefer?

I like the bench because my bench is super comfortable. Plus, my parents don’t exactly have the nicest, newest, or most reliable vehicle (they have money, we just don’t need something newer yet), so having the ability to haul 3/4 of my family is nice, just in case we need to. -
Good looking truck! What are your plans for it? Be sure to check under the carpet for rust, even the nicest looking trucks need floors a lot of times! Enjoy!

Stroker Info from Four Wheeler

Interesting read. -
Aside from the Redneck lift kit, I see that is a drivers side drop T-case and the front end has a passenger side pumpkin.

Mystery Skid Plate(CAD sheild)
89 MJ replied to eaglescout526's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It is this. I have experience on this on my MJ and my fathers YJ. It shields the vacuum disconnect, however it is kinda useless. If you were to hit a rock with it (granted, its on the backside of the axle, so if you hit it with a rock you wouldn't be going fast), you would probably fold it over and still wreck your vacuum disconnect. -
If they are a factory accessory, I’m sure @eaglescout526 would know what they are.

Alright. That is probably the route I’ll go.

The engine has just gotten worn out and has a knock. It also has a hard time doing 70 mph.

Ok. I got more info. I was told that the cylinder walls would need to be honed and that it is a poor mans stroker kit. I could be a 4.2 and a 4.0 for $75. I would put the 4.2 crank and rods in the 4.0 block. What does everyone think?

If you can pick up a Volkswagen or Mercedes with a diesel, that would be your best bet if you want a diesel Comanche.

Dana 44--I found one. Swap questions....

No issues swapping it in. don't grab the driveshaft, a shortbed one doesn’t fit a long bed. A limited slip means power will go to bothe rear wheels, not just one. It is good for off-roading.
