  1. This has already been posted in the Events section, but I figured it would be good to get more eyes on it. From what I've heard, everyone should go to it. I know I hope to be going! In case you haven't heard of this show before, here is a thread about it. So far we have 10 people trying to get their MJ to the show. Not bad considering that we are still over 6 months away from the event.
  2. I know that nobody buys their MJ for fuel mileage, but I am just curious as to what everyone gets with their MJ. When responding, please include details about your MJ (engine, trans, gears, tires, lifted/lowered/stock) I have an 89 with a 4.0 (that has an occasional misfire) with a Peugeot, 4.10s, 3" lift, and 31s. My best (only calculated twice) was 15.6 MPG. Once I put my new engine/trans in, I will be testing it again.
  3. Update on the newer tractor-I got a NOS fuel tank, carb rebuild kit, new choke/throttle cables, and a new air filter for it. I will hopefully be making it run better soon. We did get it to run off of starting fluid.
  4. Those rigs are kinda cool too.
  5. That is a cool story.
  6. Why do you choose that?
  7. I wouldn't avoid a truck because of the transmission. I've done burnouts and clutchless shifts on 31s with my Peugeot for 4,000 miles and I am yet to have an issue. That said, my AX-15 is going in soon.
  8. I've never driven one, but we had them as plow trucks when I was little. I think they are a great looking truck. Those are cool too.
  9. Thanks
  10. What would be your go to vehicle if the Jeep MJ/XJ platform was never created? My choice would be the 1973-1987(1991) Chevy and GMC squarebody pickups. PS, can you all tell that online school isn't very exciting? I only come on here once I am done with my classwork.
  11. Yes I am. I would assume use the Renix (89) one then?
  12. Ok, I am prepping for my engine swap and I realized I forgot to order a new crankshaft position sensor. I will be using the 89 Renix wiring harness with a 96 4.0 and a 97 AX-15. For which 4.0 do I order the CPS for?
  13. I really like this, everyone has their own use for their trucks.
  14. You could get the AMC 20 in 86 MJs (like yours). It wasn’t available after that though.
  15. I can definitely look at those. I was thinking of doing POR15 on the underside, but I am open to suggestions like yours. I will take a look at them Chassis Saver is basically POR-15 with fewer harmful chemicals.
  16. Fluid Film, Chassis Saver (to paint over current surface rust), and very frequent car washes are a must then.
  17. 4wd and 2wd have the same brakes. I understand wanting bigger tires though.
  18. Welcome! I live in WI. I will also say, do not drive these trucks year round. The salt will eat then regardless of undercoating.
  19. I’m glad so many people still use these as trucks.
  20. LOL
  21. We just had our sewer back up in our house earlier this year. I guess you could say it was a crappy situation. Or in short, a $#!&uation.
  22. Bump, we've gotten a lot of new members since the most recent post. I like stories, lets hear them!
  23. I would pull the engine and rebuild it. Who knows what could've gotten in some of the waterjackets or other places. If you don't want to rebuild it, I'd buy a running Jeep with a 4.0 and swap it in. If you have a Renix, I'd try to find a 87-90.
  24. Many people use their MJs for different things. I want to know what you use yours for! Mine is my daily driver from spring through fall and my car show truck, but I also use it for hauling and towing things.
  25. 6 month(ish) later review. I still like it, I've towed my garden tractor with it and hauled some heavier parts in the bed and had no squatting, which I had before even if I just sat on the tailgate. I wouldn't call them a substitute for Metric Ton leaf springs though, as I believe those have 2 overload springs, I only have the 1. This would be a low-buck alternative if you can't yet afford/don't want the stiffer ride of the Metric Ton springs, but want your towing/payload bumped up a little bit. I think the ride is a little bit softer than a 2017 JKU. I also seems to corner better now because of the stiffer springs-it stays flatter, almost like it has a rear sway bar, but it does not have a rear sway bar. That may be a future upgrade though.
