  1. Why do you want a 4wd truck? Also, @Pete M, should this be moved over to tech questions to get more eyes on itS?
  2. Honestly, I don't think I would convert a 2wd truck to 4wd. If you live in the rust belt, you shouldn't drive the truck in the winter because they are rare and climbing in value, and if you live in the south, you won't probably need 4wd for the snow. There are quite a few people in AZ that do mild wheeling with their 2wd trucks.
  3. Here are 2 threads that have done 4x4 swaps. Both of these guys did the swap well if I remember correct.
  4. I have some quick questions before I go about answering your questions. Is your truck a 5 speed or an automatic? The only 5 speeds that came in MJs were manuals. Yes, the easiest way would be to buy a similar year XJ (I'd look for an 87-90 because you have a Renix truck) and then swap the transmission/transfer case/front driveshaft/front axle into your MJ. Then you will only need to get your stock rear driveshaft shortened (~1 foot if I remember right). I will link some threads that cover this for you.
  5. Sounds good!
  6. I need to get some supplies from school today (because we have to have online school BS), so I should be able to get some good pictures in the school parking lot. I'll see what I can do and try to PM them your way in the next couple of days.
  7. If you want to try to scan another truck to see if that makes a difference, you could always come up near me unless you want to scan a closer truck.
  8. I'm sure @eaglescout526 might be able to find one in a dealership or @Red Mistress might be able to pull one out of his magician's hat...lol.
  9. I don’t need any, but the b-pillar inner vent might be a good thing to make.
  10. I’m sorry to hear that.

Did a soft rebuild and refresh of the motor enough to make it a reliable daily. Swapped in a 8.25, then a ax5. drove till this spring while buying v8 swap parts. Spring of Rona 2020 swapped the v8 and got it running and driving in 2 months. Honestly covid was great for this because all I could do was work on the truck. within 1 year of owning it, it was lowered, freshened up and v8 swapped. Best MJ story- Last summer I took the truck in stock form to the Roadkill Nights event in Pontiac Michigan. 700 miles one way trip. It screamed at 4 grand at 80mph the whole time. I entered the truck in the car show portion of the event with my buddies 2018 gt350. Out of all these amazing cars I could barely get away from the jeep because people kept talking to me about it. Even met someone from this site. The show offered a free dyno session on a mobile unit and my buddy talked me into doing it. All these insane cars making 500+hp and I roll up with people crowding around asking what i have in it. Get up on the dyno and the guy about died laughing when I said it has a 200,000 mile 4 banger. With a crowd of about 75 people I pushed it to 5 grand and it made a whopping 89 HP. Honestly more than anyone thought. I was shocked. Second run I tried for 90 but shredded the belt. Sounded like the bottom end exploded at first. Drove it back to my spot and got high fives all the way back. Then had to go buy another belt and fixed it in the show. That was the only issue that whole trip. And then the clutch master exploded in the driveway the moment i got home... CC is Awesome! Why? The whole community aspect of this site is amazing. I have been helped so many times from people here and met so many cool people from selling and buying stuff. The wealth of knowledge on this site is incredible. Other forums i've been apart of don't even compare to the friendliness and help i've gotten on here. Congrats @70barracuda!!
  12. I thought she was a little pricey. But we shall see!
  13. I was assured it will be fine, we have taken some measure already to make sure that the crack won’t spread, and a shop that builds driveshafts will be handling the repair. I probably would have sourced a new one if I could have found one in my area though.
  14. I do not think so, but am not 100% sure.
  15. I do not think it has been repaired before. I’d assume it was a manufacturing defect or the donor was in a crash. If it’s a manufacturing defect, I’d recommend checking your external slabs bellhousing to make sure it isn’t cracked.
  16. https://madison.craigslist.org/pts/d/baraboo-1987-jeep-comanche/7203178152.html This isnt too for from me or @500 MJ
  17. I dropped the bellhousing for the AX-15 off at a local shop to be repaired. We don’t have the tools to weld cast aluminum at home.
  18. They are art. But, he uses them like cars.
  19. Take a mattress and make it fit. Then, make sheets fit it. Bam, you now have a cool bed frame. Plus, you can just drop the setup in your trailer when you go camping. Then you can’t complain about not sleeping well, because you will be in your bed in a bed.
  20. Yes he has. He did a 71 GTO Judge with this method and it has held up for about least 14 years (not 100% sure how long). The owner stores it in a closed up I heated building in the winter and looks the same as it did when the car was finished. And the car gets driven a lot.
  21. Neat!
  22. You're luck that you even have a tach lol. I would start looking at grounds. I should probably take my own advice though and check the grounds for my gas gauge. I am not sure where the grounds are for that. I'm going to guess that @eaglescout526 or @Minuit would be able to point you in a general direction at least.
  23. I meant that the AMC 20 did come stock with the Metric Ton package. It probably has not been swapped in. Honestly, knowing that you have the Cummins engines, that is what I'd do.
  24. I believe the AMC 20 only came on Metric Ton 86 MJs. Yes, is rare. I wouldn't worry about restoring a 2.8 MJ. That said, I would probably make it look like a nice original, but put a GM 3.1 or 3.4 in it. I'd check this thread out. He put a 3.4 in his. The nice thing about a GM 3.1 or 3.4 is that you will get good power and the swap will be mostly bolt in.
