  1. I plan on building myself a set of sliders when we get a tubing bender. They would likely be similar to Krusty's though.
  2. Thank you. A main reason I thought of this is because I would like to go to the All Breeds Jeep Show in Carlisle next year, and I want to hit some Junkyards on the way to pick up some extra MJ parts. Or in @Pete M's case, when he goes on roadtrips, he can hit some old junkyards that are more or less "forgotten" and don't have an online presence.

    Old Cars

I don't know how you guys discovered MJs, but I came from the old car community before this. That said, my current job is helping a close friend of mine clean out his old dealership. He is a big GM guy and has brought many rust free GM parts up from AZ and has a huge NOS parts collection. If any of you would be interested in me posting the items that we are digging up and selling, I could post them hear. If you are interested in following our sales on Facebook, our Facebook page is Jim's Classic Parts Center. The dealership is called Jim Carlson's Auto Center. Also, if anyone on here is looking for old parts, feel free to PM me, I know a guy. LOL.
  4. I think this could go well between the regional events and the classifieds because people may be looking for parts in this section too. I don't know if this is a good idea, but I know @JeepTractorGuy has asked me about some of the junkyards by me before (He lives across the river and up the street from me) because lots of our local junkyards have no websites or any sort of inventory that the general public can look up. The nearest junkyard to me is run by a 74 year old man for example. He does not have any sort of website at all.
  5. I am not sure if this could be a sub-forum similar to the regional events, but what if there was a Junkyards per state section? I am thinking it could look similar to the events section which would then be broken down into states. One could then list the junkyards that they have heard of/been to in their area that has desirable Jeep stuff. I'll include what I am thinking below. Home > Comanche Club Forums > Junkyards > Wisconsin (that is what the top of the page would look like) Title:Ray's Salvage and Repair-Trempealeau, WI Description: Name: Ray's Salvage and Repair Location: Trempealeau, WI Items of Interest: Many mostly complete XJs, several fullsize Jeeps Website: N/A I think it would make it easier to document what is at each junkyard.

    What not to do

  7. It is.
  8. I’ve heard that they are narrower.
  9. We decided to take it apart further to clean it because it is super gross. And the new head is installed.
  10. Lets see some pictures!
  11. Sounds good. Thanks. I will look through the options and let you know what I’m thinking.
  12. Ok. What would you run in your 89 option/radio wise and what would the price be?
  13. What would the correct radio be for an 89 (Sportruck, if it matters)? My grandmas want to buy me stuff for Christmas.

    Hummer EV

Probably, until there is a malfunction. And that is a when, not an if.

Don't start me on autos, blind spot detection BS, or backup cameras. I can wheel my MJ around way more efficiently (forward or backwards in a paved parking lot) than my girlfriend can wheel her little Mazda POS (don't tell her I said that LOL) with an auto and a backup camera. They are crutches that do not help. If you can't back the vehicle up without a backup camera, you shouldn't be driving that vehicle. I say the same thing about trailers. These new trucks have the trailer backup assist. If you can't back it up, you shouldn't be towing it.

Here's the part that gets me: its a brand new Jeep (with coil springs on all 4 corners) and they ride worse than my MJ and barely get better fuel mileage. My parents have a 2017 JKU. I'm not a huge fan of it.

Yes, but I would go so far as to say any Wrangler newer than 2007 is a lifestyle vehicle. Look at the Duck Duck Jeep trend. It's dumb.
  18. If you want more confusion, it is commonly believed that 2wd leaf springs make the truck sit 1" lower than 4wd leaf springs. If I were you, I would look for 5-5.5" lift springs. Having the extra bit of rake is nice if you plan on putting anything in the bed (before my add a leaf, when my truck sat level, I could make my truck squat about 1" just by getting in the bed. I weigh 120 lbs)

Check this out! I have my doubts, but it would be cool. https://www.atlismotorvehicles.com/dually
  20. Yes. It really depends on how worn out your rear leaf springs are. Also, it is relatively easy to add/remove springs if you don't like the height. And MJs sit a little higher in the back, so you could have a lift that is an inch taller in the front and the rear will still probably be higher.
  21. @krustyballer16 makes stiffeners I think. He also makes roll bar brackets, seat brackets, and rock sliders.
  22. The D30 should be fine. My dad as a V8 5 speed YJ on 35s with a D30 front and haven't had an issue yet.
  23. Pretty much everything doors forward is the same as a 4 door XJ. The floorpans are a little bit different, by XJ pans can be modified to fit pretty well. My build thread is in my signature and I did a driver side door, rocker, and floor if you have any questions. Be sure to check out the frame where the leaf spring bolts in in the front. That is a common place for rust.
