  1. Has anyone replaced this seal? There are not any Mopar pieces left and there is one on ebay that looks like the factory ones but reproduced. Has anyone had experience with this?
  2. Its possible it could have come with one and someone could have swapped it out. Like there could've been a PO to your PO that could have had an XJ or another MJ that they loved that could've gotten the tach treatment.
  3. I can't say for certain. I have looked at the suspension group of the parts catalogue and there are about 5 different front coil springs to choose from. My guess is that it depends on which coil spring set up it has. There is no way to confirm it as the coils may or may not be marked. I have yet to see them marked as mine are still factory coils. I try to make this known as much as I can because there are a crap load of inconsistencies with the build sheets. 89 and up is perfect as those are the Chrysler years. 88 and down are the AMC years and a lot of the data is missing due to a flood at Chrysler.
  4. I'll give you some inspiration. When LR gives me a hell of a time which she does because she can be a stubborn B****, I get into your spot. Hell I thought about getting a new vehicle and dumping the project after fighting the same shifting issue after blowing the trans and changing the pilot bearing. But I stuck with it and thoroughly thought about it after a solid week and a half until I was testing odd things like the pilot bearing seat. Don't give up on yours. These trucks are having hell of a life and no one should ever give up on these neglected redheaded step childs. Like what mjeff said. Its possible that the over the counter parts could not be the right fit at all. It could be a master cylinder for a 91-92. They are dubbed as crap parts for a reason on here. It could be for a YJ as the piston rod lengths are too short for travel for our trucks.
  5. If it’s listed right and fits then there is nothing wrong with it unless it also said it would fit an AX15.
  6. Hmmm. Sounds like you need to find a pukegoat BA10/5 slave.
  7. I love the hunt!! for whatever reason this sat a a dealer since August of ‘86. And no. There are not ten pieces in there. There’s 26
  8. Yup. I had a leaking slave and it was obvious. I left it in until it gave up. Check the condition of the hard line rubber. If that’s cracked in anyway it can let minuets amount of air in. You could just have a crap master cylinder. I had one and the pressure varied from running and not running. I still have an issue now to where if I take my foot completely off the pedal I lose some pressure and have to build it back up while driving but I’ve just held my foot on the pedal to keep it from doing that.
  9. That’s entirely possible. I’ve fought the same issue with the engine off great pressure and on no pressure. How does the bottom of the bell house look? Does it look like it has an oil leak that would be from the engine?
  10. Oh well since you asked. It was actually simple. He said to open the door and use a jack to lift it up and reweld the hinge back to the body. I don’t think I saw that idea anywhere on here or if anyone else thought of it but I didnt think of it
  11. Yup. The clutch disk only pushes one way. If you are for sure certain you installed those components right, then I wouldn't worry about them and focus on why you are losing pressure in your system.
  12. Yup.....learned that one the hard way. And probably got the world record time for dropping an AX5 down.
  13. Ok good. If that pilot bearing isn't seated where it needs to be, the pressure plate can not push the clutch disk back enough to disengage.
  14. I have not. I have only had the factory, napa and crown master. Lux brand clutch kits with slaves, which felt like a hit or miss for me and this current one is crown. I avoid dorman parts at all cost. They are the great value brand of auto parts. Course they do make that windshield wiper transmission bushing kit. But that's being said, All aftermarket parts are a hit or miss. Mopar or AMC is the way to go...but those parts have been long discontinued. So if these two brands aren't working out, then you may have to dump some money... I just thought about this. Did you by any chance change the pilot bearing in the center of the flywheel?
  15. Yeah I currently have both crown slave and master and I'm pleased with them. I had a napa one after the factory master failed and it sucked. can't say the hose will always be the problem but it can. The flexible rubber end is so damn near close to the hot exhaust and engine that it can be a culprit.
  16. I can almost bet it was as equivalent to bumper and radio delete. It probably was a factory thing to make the money saving packages. Or dealers did it and turned a profit on AMC/Jeep rims. can't really say. Mine is the only Jeep aside from CJ's to have a set of those trailer rims.
  17. I fight these issues from time to time. Its complete crap. I had to replace the master and slave on mine. I went through this issue. I knew the slave was bad as it leaked worse than a colander but I digress. I replaced the master and bled and bled and bled and still had craptastic shifting and played musical master cylinders till I got a crown cylinder and have been pleased with it. Then the slave finally gave up and swapped it in a new one. It generally is a good rule around here to replace the three components to the clutch system including the hose. So far shifting for me has been good to me. Also try starting the truck with it in first gear and pedal to the floor and see what happens.
  18. Holy Crap!! I didn't realize your truck had those factory trailer rims too! That's what I get for looking on the phone. Same exact set I had on LR and I can't find any evidence other than early pictures where they are painted and looked like a propane grill. I also suppose that my current rim set has a story. I was at goodwill and I found one of those five spoke rims with Jeep stamped in it and I swear that rim had never ever seen road use it was so damn new looking. Then after acquiring that one I went to AMC salvage a week later and they had a full set. Paid a hundred for the set.
  19. Chrysler trying to get their bearings on what to do with Jeep.
  20. Well there’s a drop in liner and a unique pioneer and 4x4 decal that I can’t find for the 91-92 years in the catalogue. Never mind. Found the pioneer decals
  21. I bought a 96 and down head light harness and harvested a prong from it and joined the hella light harness with it and hooked it up to my headlight harness using the factory prong and it looks like a clean factory install for my driving lights.
  22. I have no absolute clue. A lot of the build sheets prior to 89 are a crap shoot. It is possible that's what it is but your picture looks blue. You're welcome! And welcome to the addiction as Pete always says!
  23. Looks like everything is still together. That is actually the starter relay. I guess it could be a PDC as well, never really thought about that but it is grouped with the relay center so it is a relay. Damn. Beat to the punch
