Not only that but each year there was something just crazy different. I am glad we didnt go down the seat fabric style path here.
-
Thats an incredible can of worms that we should not ever ever open.

Yeah theyre base Wagoneer seats. Nothing too special other than the design and material. From my understanding only the top tier XJW's have the Limited inscribed to the seats.

Shifting RPMs advice
eaglescout526 replied to Mikey1989's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So this was a gimmick to help with fuel economy. It probably does help with some science but otherwise its a mild suggestion. As far as shifting at what RPM, shift when ever the hell you want before redline since its a flat tappet cam engine. I shift at certain MPH, like 1st 0-15, 2nd 15-25(or 30), 3rd 25-45, 4th 45-50, 5th 50 for cruising on the streets as thats all I mostly do with no freeway. Freeway after 3rd is based on getting caught up with traffic. -
where to find comanche parts
eaglescout526 replied to BEEDOSAUCE's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you want MJ specific stuff, just gotta hunt all over. Like the roll bar. If you want factory, used will be your only option. Aftermarket, get any that fit a ranger or S10 and cut to fit. Something like a bed cover too will be aftermarket as OEM isn’t made anymore for that either.- 6 replies

Suppose one could do this to a Renix set up. Don’t see why not but that canister must hold some good vac to operate HVAC and cruise.
-
If these can be used on Renix easily, then I’ve got two of them I’d like gone from my stash.

Oh these clips are neat. Think of the clips that hold the grill that take the screw, now replace the screw with a push pin and it secures the trim in place. This being said, I’ll get a part number and pic if no one beats me to it this evening. -
The Jeep homestead
eaglescout526 replied to eaglescout526's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
You know, I havent done alot except recently. We upgraded our shower, much much bigger now, updated and really nice. Worth the money and deals that we managed to get. Wife was offered half off labor at the mall if we scheduled a quote and the guy gave us another half off on labor which we were sold on and well now we have a much better shower. Buttttt we want to see the Jeep stuff. So I scored that poster, gave it a frame a new home in the garage Then found a couple austin mini poster frames that compare other cars to it, they look to be from a dealership. Anyways one become the XJ dedicated frame The other is the Comanche We had fun making these. Thats all for the homestead. -
That hose end typically isn’t serviced separately, though I suppose it could be taken from the dorman 4.0L vac line kit with some hot air and a thin screw driver to get it off and put it on.

How in the hell do y’all do transmission work with the t-case still attached!? Haha. i had to replace the front bearing gasket on the transmission and that was a fun 5 1/2 hours of labor to just change a gasket. But bright side, no leaks and all systems normal on the system sentry! Hopefully I shouldn’t have gear oil leaking again. -
Cruise Control kits TSB
eaglescout526 replied to eaglescout526's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Adding in the TSB I found in the 1989 Chrysler TSB book. Basically if your speedo bounces after replacing the cable, the orientation of the speed sensor could very well be wrong. Just performed this on my MJ and speedo bounce went away. -
Weird that a tach just ups and fails. A replacement cluster for you would have to be the one that has a speedo cable attachment. Butttttt that being said, it’s pretty easy to keep your cluster and swap out the tach with another one. Given that the “new” one works. Luckily that black gauge face style was used from 88-96 in the Cherokees and should be a direct swap with no issue from the engine management with yours being Renix and later being HO Someone correct me if the HO tach won’t work in a Renix cluster housing This being said, try searching under ‘Cherokee XJ’, that way you will get better results vs searching under Comanche.
-
Couple things, welcome! I highly would recommend against putting your phone number out there and 9 more posts and the classified will open up to you. Also a little info about your Comanche will go a long way here besides being the 4.0L. Model year will help with making sure you get the right cluster. If your tach isn’t working, something in that circuit isn’t working or the tach is adjusted wrong for the engine.

Chunk, A 1984 XJ
eaglescout526 replied to eaglescout526's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
It was actually. Looking at one of my accessory catalogs, there’s a section on headrests for the XJ, you can get a kit of headrests without material on them and then you could buy the material as a kit, which explains the one headrest kit I have. -

Cruise control switch/stalk, can't find one
eaglescout526 replied to knever3's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Now hang on. Are you sure you have all the parts? That pic looks like someone snipped the wire from the junkyard and stuffed that one I’m hoping for an instant upgrade. -
Replace with the football from the Renix era if you can. If not, run a second baseball

eaglescout526 replied to knever3's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There’s so much than can go wrong or fail with the AMC/Dana cruise control. -
1. pretty 2 lens are on upside down for Ford applications, simple unscrew and rotate will fix that 3. I’d be scared as all hell to run those in a daily scenario. Granted I run old ones that took me a while to find parts for on my 84 but those are very nice.
