  1. Thanks for the advice Comanche Club!
  2. Hey Comanche Club, I'm looking for some advice on safely lifting the front of my 2WD Comanche. I've been reviewing the service manual, and it seems to suggest using the ends of the subframe rails as both the floor jack lifting point and the jack stand placement. To clarify, is it correct to: Use a floor jack to lift the truck at the end of the subframe rail? Then, place jack stands at the same location on the subframe rail, right next to where the floor jack was positioned? I just want to make absolutely sure I'm understanding the procedure correctly and doing it safely. Any tips or alternative methods you've found helpful would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
  3. right = passenger side? Just to double check. I do this procedure first? Then, I bleed all of the brakes again?
  4. I'm trying to flush the brakes on my 89 Comanche using the factory service manual instructions. I didn't make it very far. I started and stopped on the passenger rear drum brake. Seem to be going as expected until it wasn't. I had someone press the brake, I opened the valve, waited a bit, closed the valve, and signaled to have my helper release the brake pedal. After several cycles, brake fluid didn't seem to be flowing into the hose/bottle I had attached to the bleeder valve. When I went to check on the master brake cylinder, the smaller front reservoir was empty and the larger rear reservoir was full. Is that normal? Is the smaller front reservoir for the drum breaks? And, the larger rear reservoir for the front calipers? I also noticed that the rubber gasket in the master brake cylinder cover looked as if pressure sucked it out of shape. I'm also wondering if I have to clamp the cover on the master brake cylinder every time I check it during the bleeding process, or can I just put the lid back without the clamp until I get all the brakes bled. Any advice would be appreciated.
  5. Comanche SS you're right. I stuck a mirror under the lower radiator hose an it is leaking. It's still leaking after tightening as much as I can, so I'll try a new one. Pete, I'm not sure where the radiator came from.
  6. Hi everyone. I'm hoping the Camanche Club can help me figure out what's the best way to deal with this coolant leak. I inherited this 2wd 89 Jeep Comanche 4.0 with manual transmission from my dad. I hasn't run for years. I does start up and run. It didn't seem to have coolant when I got it, so I flushed the coolant system, and added coolant and distilled water. The next day, I noticed that coolant was leaking from the fitting in the picture. It's on the driver side of the radiator. I don't have much experience with cars. This will be the first car I work on. Any advice for me regarding the leak? I'm also not sure why the fitting is plugged with a bolt. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
