Project: Cruise, a 1960 T-bird.

The pic I took is as if your looking at the relay installed on the fender. It’s as follows: starter cable wire and another wire small left post is ignition small right post is starter engagement right post is battery and a couple other power things. Here’s the old one: I am not sure why there’s a difference. -

Water pump is off. It’s a piece of rusted toast. Tried to replace the starter relay, that failed as it kept wanting to crank the engine over as if the relay was open. Not sure what was up with that but the old one functions as it should. Tested the new one to see if it was stuck open and it wasn’t. Tomorrow I will get the tank installed, try to get the new fuel pump installed and see if she will drink some fuel. Then once all said and done I’ll get the radio installed. -
Where in the hell! Did you get a NOS tailgate?!

I still don't know if it works yet. Have to go back over tomorrow and install the tank, new battery cable, new fuel pump and starter relay. I was over today and took the parts over there aside from the tank as it was still finishing in the drying process for the under coating. But I sprayed the hell out of the engine bay with gunk engine degreaser and hopefully Ill be able to spray it clean tomorrow. The head lamp buckets were full of nothing but dirt and those were cleaned since I had the bulbs removed, still need to buy new ones. Thats all for now. I will have to film if the radio works or not but I don't see why it shouldnt. -

Hahahahaha! I did it! Conquered the radio clutch. After a couple weeks of searching a guy who rebuilds those old Ford and Mopar radios said the clutches were rubber. So I bought a small sheet of rubber, cut the appropriate size I needed for the clutch and done! The tuner dial turns as it should and doesn’t slip. Now to prep the underside of the gas tank and head over to do the installs. -
No problem. They may not charge that much but I have never had to cut any body parts out of them. I usually get some pretty good deals. If they don't want to ship it I could always go and retrieve it and ship it.

I recently scored good on some O scales. I snagged three vintage Lionel tanker cars for $7+shipping and a Lionel club car with a search light on it for about $15. So I think I did pretty good there. I only got those to add to my 96 NYC(goodwill $60) set and my 50's set(less than $30, no track). But otherwise yes there are some very expensive but very detailed O scale and above. HO is more fun anyways. Chocolate rain. Not a 7 Princes fan. Those who know, you know. Ready Player One or Ready Player Two. -

But both of them were in the movie silver streak together! Snickers HO or O scale? -
If no one chimes in, call up AMC salvage out here and see what they can do. I know they have several clean ZJs. One of them has garnet interior.

Keep in mind that if you look at the history of the XJ aside from 97-01, the XJ in the beginning still had high end options and trims all the while being sold alongside the SJ Wagoneer and the SJ Wagoneer was a high end vehicle in its class too. But AMC offered the same luxury to those who wanted an XJ but wanted the luxuries of the SJ.

Clutch line to slave nut size
eaglescout526 replied to Dom U's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
11mm has been my luck. Just buy a set of flare nut wrenches and you’ll never have to worry about having the right size. -
It’s how the dealer gets you to come in and do the work. Make the task look as daunting as possible so the person has no choice but to take it in. When it comes to electronics, forget about trying to do any sleuthing.
-
That’s pretty cool and fun.

He sent me a PM last weekend saying he’s been busy and to text him when to meet up. I’ve just been forgetting to do that.

Not entirely weird. The XJ was compact and targeted as the family car and I doubt many were being lifted. The MJ and SJs had running boards and SJs were bigger and taller and the MJ was probably predicted that they would be lifted and the long boards that run to the rear wheel well are perfect for reaching into the bed. Which I have a set of those as well.
-
Hmmm. Gotta find a set. I didn’t even know any were made to fit the XJ. I don’t even think they were offered as a factory accessory.
-
I pulled the build sheet for this one a while ago. The build sheet did not have a D44 on it but a 35. I can post the full build sheet later.
-
Ah. Makes sense. You could always remove the adapter and have it set up like a 2.5L. But I don’t know much about that area of the 4.0.
-
Are you referring to the early 4.0’s without the adaptor thingy?
-
I only say this not just out of pure speculation but sometimes there’s the case of a dealer putting on pin striping or custom decals as stated by the tint guy here at the dealer. Like I had the shop whom I still need to get ahold of for the “Comanche” windshield decal ask if there was a Dodge Durango RT decal package and there wasn’t any I ended up telling the guy it was probably a dealer thing which is possible.
