Yeah, I remember somewhere seeing in one of the many literatures I have access to to have the four digit codes and I think thats what Chrysler always used until they bought AMC and saw they were using three digit codes for their builds. they probably came up with a way to combine them but my build sheet and his build sheet come out pretty similar with a few exceptions that differ like the engine and trans.

Anyone out there have one or know where to get one easily? One of my mechanic friends at the dealer has an 01 XJ and I was going to snag him a column but that was before I knew AMC was closing. I know the 97-01 swap is popular and I thought I would ask around here.

Ehhh maybe not. The chip shortage might work in your favor of actually having it fixed. As long as the engine can still turn over and run, it might get fixed. But hot damn that’s a good hit. Here’s to all good things and a quick recovery.

It’s a 7 piece grill. So behind the headlamp/turn signal bezel is a little bezel to round off the upper and lower trim pieces. Chrysler did away away with the 7 and simplified it to a 3 piece where the upper and lower metal trim is now apart of the grill and headlamp bezels along with the side marker round off piece. I’ll post the parts diagrams later.

Sounds like key parts needs to make these things too.

I went with a company local to me but does ship nationally and specially designed theirs dashmats to withstand the sun and heat. Dash covers I think is the name, been a bit since I’ve looked at one of the boxes at work but I love it and it’s great. I don’t have a pic on my phone but I do in my build thread.

Ouch. It should be an AMC35 still. I can’t remember but the differences between the two are subtle. I remember watching a video about it with the guy also working on his Eagle.

Actually I found two issues. The original radiator was more plugged than I expected. I ran the system with fresh stuff twice and the coolant still came out brown. So I said to hell with it, swapped in a new radiator. Made the trans lines play nice with the new radiator without really messing anything up and was still having over heating issues. Except! A twist. Once it got to the 240* line, it actually fought to stay cool and I couldn’t think as to why it was doing this with having the new radiator in. Then it dawned on me. The owner or previous owner changed the hose from the intake manifold to the T-stat out with the wrong hose and it looks like the arch you would find in St. Louis. Basically how it is supposed to operate with the flow is push water through the manifold to the T-stat to open it up sooner than let the water boil in the block. Well the cooling system doesn’t create enough pressure to push the water through that U bent hose to do that. So that being the only thing at this point that isn’t factory leads me to believe this is the last issue and as I removed the hose and found little to no coolant in it and felt the hose to be quit cooler than the rest of the system. Plus it also took the t-stat a long time to open since most the air was hanging around there and not the back of the block as I tried to bleed it all out. So we shall see when the new hose comes in.

That’s the lazy route lol. No there’s a few spots that need some new plaster put down so we shall see what ultimately happens.

Oh yeah I forgot to throw in a part number. I’ll get it but something that can happen, if you route the belt the wrong way, there will be a lot of slack. It’s one of those trial and error things.

Holy hell does this house aggravate me at times. Today I learned that one circuit(Garage outlet, door opener, guest bathroom, outdoor outlet, outside motion light and probably a couple others)is all on one GFI. Pretty damn dumb and terrible. I hate saying that yes this house was built in the late 70's and completed in 1980 but dammit there was better practices with electrical by then! Also the pool has been drained! Lots to be done in terms or maintenance and making it look nice again. It clearly has been drained prior to me as there is some plaster repair but theres lots more to be repaired than just the first step. Also going to be replacing all the jet gaskets as those have all but disintegrated. I am at the point now where I am locating and eliminating spots where water will leak away and keep constantly filling and ramping my water bill to $500 a month. We did however discover that the autofill has a leak somewhere between the control valve and the floater(kinda like a toilet bowl) where it is just leaking up and out of the skimmer. Have not decided my next course of action but I am gonna get a lot of do it right and professionally the first time if I just leave it.
