I have the jeepcables kit all my jeeps. MJ will only see pavement and has a tiny amp, but I like the kit and figured for the extra cash I'd rather have some proper cables.

Ok good to know!

Ever heard or used them? I have not. Got them with this spare tire kit that was supposed to use Timken or quality bearings. Quick browse of the interwebs yielded mix results. Some of late say they are fine for the money others say great, others trash. I have some faith in Summit but I feel duped or are these actually decent? https://summitmachine.com/spare-tire-hinge-kit

Wish I could. Just saw that scrolling around and thought it was worthy of being posted.

the newest addition to the herd......
Smokeyyank replied to watchamakalit's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
I just snagged this head unit. Got a open box on ebay for $25 https://jensenmobile.com/shop/receivers/mpr2110/ And these speakers https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item-128261-Hifonics-ZS65CXS.html Spent under $80 on everything. Kind of the same boat, not planning to keep it long but need some tunes. -
the newest addition to the herd......

I have not but it's on my ZJ to do list as the current stereo doesn't work. In my WJ it has the infinity system and when I wired my aftermarket system I just ran the speaker wires through the harness. First issue was not wiring them right and I got barley any sound. Went back and redid it with no issues. This go around will probably do a BT deck, basics speakers and possibly a small amp. -
Thanks, it's decent. Never had a ZJ so fun to tinker with something else and find all those other jeep problems in a different model. As for the WJ m an I wish. Been slowly gathering all the parts. Picked up the gas tank tuck skid. Need to ship my ARB to Carl Jantz so he can machine it to accept the D50 gears up front and get the rest of the parts for the Jana54 kit. Trying to not throw it on jack stands before I had most of the parts. I'm about 80% there with the parts I need.

My 92 MJ. Didn't get any real interest in selling it and being a 2wd in CO doesn't help. Tried different sites and nothing that was worthwhile.

Through my never ending struggle of not getting more Jeeps.....I got another Jeep. This was a trade though so technically didn't get more at least that's what I'm trying to convince my wife of. Currently my youngest daughter loves the F out of it. It's big and red, two of her favorite things. So hence the name, BigRed. She calls it her monster truck. Here's the specs... -97 Zj 4.0 Auto -D30/8.8 4.10s with spartan front and standard LSD rear -Core long arms all around -242 w/sye -WJ front knuckle -Bumpers -35s Not planning to do a lot. Gears suck but they still get around better than stock. Just ordered a bunch of maintenance items and will poke around in this while I build the WJ. Here's some pics I got from the PO.

Ebay, hemmings, cl, marketplace. If you're not close to them will need to have someone that can help and probably need to send the title to them ready to go. Might be able to see if a dealer would consign them but will cut heavily into your profit. Or you ship them to you and sell them from there.

Help figuring out Gear Ratios

4.10s, if you're going to pay to put gears in do it once. -
Some advice on engine replacement / upgrade
Smokeyyank replied to Far McKon's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
When I did a rebuild in my XJ I paid 2500 for everything including r&r. That was several years ago, but I had my 4.7HO rebuilt recently in my WJ and that was 5k with r&r, but it's a more expensive engine to work on. I think it's a little high price wise, but look online at some of the long blocks should get you an answer. Its not a crazy labor intense process. The 4.7 was an absolute B. As for needing a rebuild from overheat hard to say. I overheated my 88 drove home about 10ish minutes. I've been about 25k since then without issues. 4.0 can take some abuse. -
Nice WJ! I love my WJ and the 4.7HO is a beast. I bought mine with a blown 4.7HO and had it rebuilt, depending on what you'd paid not the worst idea to be proactive and have the heads worked to pin the valve seats since that is what kills these along with the oil drain hole causing issues. Rebuilds aren't cheap and is an absolute B to get out. I ditched my 247 for a 242, I lucked out with open axles, not a fan of variloks but they aren't terrible. Just make sure to use the correct fluid in the diffs. If it has dual zone climate control you may eventually have blend door issues. If you have issues with door locks, windows or other random shenanigan's known problem that the wires in the door boots get pinched and cause issues. Otherwise not a lot that happens with them.

Most times its the 6/12 rule, unless your county/state has different codes.

Just a quick peek on Hemmings. I know not close to yours as far as specs but mostly stock. Has new listing and previous sold ones. Some are stupid money.

Power steering refresh
Smokeyyank replied to Smokeyyank's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thank, but looks like they shut down. Tried calling and number is not in service. Did find another place in Englewood that does rebuilds. $200 for the gear and $75 for the pump. -
Power steering refresh
Smokeyyank replied to Smokeyyank's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks, I'd be interested if you have it. Otherwise probably do a redhead gear. Yeah Durango gear works. I ran one on my XJ, really liked it but killed it. Broke at the unibody and ended up scrapping it. -
The 88 is in need of a power steering refresh. Pump is howling and it's leaking. What's the recommended parts for doing this? I've seen some info about HO pumps, no interest in a WJ pump. If something is a easy upgrade all for it but not wanting to swap a bunch of things to make it work. Right now it's stock but the eventual goal is 33s but 0 offroading. Also any brand recommendations? Ive always had good luck with lares but RA is showing out of stock. Going to keep looking but any suggestions are welcome.
