Bought a rear truss for the 9 the other day. Went from $350 to $385 overnight and now backordered.

I agree about the big companies. Churning out over priced garbage and when there's a issues no one cares. Sucks. Even some of the smaller shops I use can feel the push. I got a email yesterday from a place I bought my air lockers from. Basically saying if you're looking to buy something do it now because June 1st prices increase are coming and they will have decreased inventory. Now what happens then who knows but GD annoying AF.

So been watching parts closey lately as I'm slowing gathering things for my WJ and decided to pull the trigger on a good chunk not what I wanted to do but my crystal ball sucks. Reason is I'm seeing more about a price increases coming in the next few weeks or parts that are "back ordered" while a new price gets figured out. Wondering what anyone else is seeing or thinking?

I put this in https://www.crutchfield.com/S-o9xHt0Tu4Fn/p_113KMX705/Kenwood-Excelon-KMM-X705.html?XVINQ=GZ0&XVVer=1F4I&awcr=628152981731&awdv=c&awnw=g&awug=9057205&awkw=pla-1737773631060&awmt=&awat=pla&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw8cHABhC-ARIsAJnY12zuzFKTTLVhRb3o68K1HbuLDjSxvC8OfztWR-CAc4-ugYgRxV1fJkkaAphaEALw_wcB Drops right in with nothing special. I went with only a BT received to save space and all my music is on my phone so need for a CD player.

Project “Tomahawk”

Piece of art! Great work all around. Only hope to aspire to this level of a MJ someday. -
I'm currently tinkering with something like this just way more advanced but basic premise is the same. I just picked up some used jabra 450s and then building the rest based on PI. From there will need try to figure some basic programming and use a voip provider. Tricky part with my set up is using DECT phone with a usb and not wanting tonuse a ATA. I'll let you know what I figure out. Just a side bar thought about the needing a phone number to complete a form type thing. I use my old companys fax number. Works like a charm.

I have ring central for my business VOIP, but don't think VOIP is what you're looking for unless you want to only make calls from your computer. I just looked to see what the OOma is seems like a waste of money for a basic phone. If you like to tinker could do this for cheap to start and free to continue. https://www.littlebytesofpi.com/raspberrypihomephone/

Entirely side bar but on the same wave length. Went to micro center to poke around and also picked up a raspberry pi 500. Got admit thing is super cool, but also I have no idea what I'm doing. Figured for the 120 not a bad thing to scoop up. Worst case one of the kids uses it as a computer and learns a few things. https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/500-desktop-kit/?variant=500-kit-us

Thanks! The lenevo was very high on my list but for the price of this can't really complain.
-
Appreciate that info. Forgot about Microcenter and just drove buy them the other day! Ended up doing a complete pivot and got another HP elite book 860. It's the same as what I use just newer bits. Got it for under $300 as refurb with windows 11 pro, keeps me from having to get a new docking station and some other things. Figure this has done everything I've needed and more and cheap enough.

My current computer is a HP laptop and it's been fine for 5 years, keyboard crapped out hence looking for a replacement. Most days it just get's plugged into the docking station but occasionally need something for field work. As for applications I use, the main one is a medical software that is webased, along with ring central, all Microsoft products (word, excel, teams, etc), accounting/payroll. Most are all webased and through AWS it bypasses most MAC things and be windows but with the VDI setup I run just easiest to keep Microsoft rather hackjob of different OS. I also don't have a mac phone and want to be able to RDP into my laptop which I can do with a android, I know I can do it with a mac, but more switching and work I'm willing to consider.
-
Can't do a mac, it doesn't work with several of my applications. Has to be windows.

In the market for a new laptop and wondering if anyone has any suggestions? This is for my business and I'm going to be moving to AWS cloud and am heavily considering a thin client laptop but still undecided on that versus a traditional one. I don't do a lot of craziness and most of these setups are overkill for my needs. All I need is something for basic office functions (Microsoft suite, excel, web browsing) all my programs are web based so I don't need anything downloaded to the actual machine. I don't do anything offline so part of the reasoning for looking at a thin client along with security. Here are my picks from what I've researched https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-elite-mt645-g8-mobile-thin-client-p-b5yw9ut-aba-1 https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpadl/thinkpad-l14-gen-5-14-inch-intel/len101t0096

Weather was great today so chipped away on some more things. Did a oil change, swapped out the clapped out battery cables for new jeepcables kit. Swapped in a bored TB I had laying around as well. It idles a lot smoother and definitely has some more umph on the low end. Think some 4 hole injectors would be nice, but I'm capped on how much I'm spending on it. Fun times but man, now I remember why I don't buy others people rigs. The amount of half assed janky crap fixes is nuts. Random crap just dangling. Whatever at least it's "fun"!

Mini-Battery Chargers, Any good?
Smokeyyank replied to AnotherOldJeepGuy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I got this one on sale for $25 after mine bit the dust. No complaints has charged my Odyssey from being completely dead and another basic battery. Ive used it a good amount this winter to keep my WJ charged for snow storms. https://www.harborfreight.com/automotive/battery-tools-accessories/battery-chargers-maintainers/4amp-fully-automatic-microprocessor-controlled-battery-chargermaintainer-63350.html -
More than likely will go yukon. Just wanted to see if there was anything else. Not worried about cost as much as quality, saving ship sailed long ago with this build. At least with yukon they advertise for offroad so have to hold up part of a reputation vs stock replacement.

I agree.

Good to know. Guess G2 is going under so not trying to pick up old stock. The Dana's are the SVL line. Other options are dorman which is assume is dana rejects or elite gears. Haven't heard of them but have heard of Ron's. Elite q1 say made in Korea but nothing about the regular line. Since it's unpopular axle with limited choices I really have to image it's one place making them and getting different names slapped on the box. So I guess go with best warranty? https://www.ronsmachiningservice.net/ring-pinions/dana/dana-50/dana-50-4-88-ring-and-pinion-elite-gear-set/

Gathering parts for my WJ build and need front gears. Been looking around and 100% understand install has a lot more to do than brands but also know some brands aren't as good. Seeing lots of things about Yukon being junk now, Revolution or nitro are good, motive fine depending, etc, etc. For my 9 rear I got a real good price on red box motive gears (made in Italy). For my front I need a R&P for a D50 with the jana54 kit. I've looked and I know the D50 isn't popular so limited on parts. Of what I've founds have been Dana SVL (Top choice) https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=6130686&cc=1362585&pt=10438&jsn=12&_nck=Ekt6BqBF1pwlXdx0gYlm1esw98pF26vehMm%2FGG3C%2Fl2QOXSJubi7Wbtv3UuYQU5UmTy3q3lNg0kokzkCpGt2JlARRe%2F7CnLUNzVAq0v%2FaMqFuwDu8FgdDGWNgMU%2BO1GCOmdCpqVd4G8U72mQLsT7ghMT8RISMfApRe1iEdxfTR0Fq9M4Eo%2F8BOPKOISnX6517b41MVBQK7yxIsOWi87gHI6K8wy4od4UUhQjhV1JFqOhRL1LQ%2BI3ifbiJzBdWkP5U5%2FmCyiIoSejjOtEzRvjsEizQFN0X%2FKsTECIbhhQgit3UQ4aMMhVyVOwxOYHPUqR0FTPMa2YEId%2FdqwgKzLfU3FVyRUOIFKoBCYMxAVLFQLrIJ6aw782dXtD73Ch4YeE%2FgvBayd4dS9hu6%2BRe7nseg6vDVcjXL0iI5nWNW4EM3VwJEnYPsbbve%2BLxFNBZ8%2F64Nb2pwjFqsjYhdfTE5FxiPf%2BqfYeN7H75h6u7frLGCA%3D G2 https://www.g2axle.com/pages/view/ring_pinion Yukon https://www.amazon.com/Yukon-performance-pinion-reverse-rotation/dp/B0078UA6O0?gQT=1 Appreciate any info.

Yeah huge bummer. I had some of their joints and snagged some more and a few other things.
-
Still working on the ol girl. Grabbing parts here and there. Splurged on the ballistic sale and black friday. Sucks they're going out of business. Have all my joints now, running combo of summit machine and ballistic.Got a gas tank skid, just had the ARB machined for the jana54 kit. Have a good chunk of parts to get this ready to get built. Still need a lot but getting there.

Been tinkering on things. I suck at pics when I'm working. Just get in a zone and go. Been doing lots of maintenace items after driving it and finding things. Replaced plugs, wires, cap and rotor, rad cap, speakers, head unit, fixed some of the quirks with electronics but have more to go. Just silly how so many issues are from previous hack jobs. Speakers didnt work because, one they weren't attached to anything just dangling in the doors and two wires weren't actually connected just tied to the connectors. They had a good run but for the few bucks to get a BT deck and speakers , much better. Next will do the battery cables and fluids. Need to adjust the doors as they don't close "right". Been driving around here and there. Can definitely feel MTs and joints all around. Rough ride but it's fun. Probably sell it this spring. Spent a lot of coin on parts for my WJ build and rather focus on that.
