  1. The D-44 was orderable outside of the MT package. But it wasn't automatically included in the towing package. But an MT truck will have come from the factory with the D-44
  2. If someone has an identical MJ, then you will see some interest in the T-case tranny etc. I can't imagine any interest in the Chevy stink-o-matic under the hood. The problem is, most of the drivetrain suffers from 'one year only' disease in MJ's. You get 3 years on the same parts in Cherokees. But the body parts match, but like you said 'rough'. I passed on an 84 Cherokee last week for exactly this reason. Keep it, fix it, and enjoy it. You can compete with Eagle for MJ's in various states of disrepair.
  3. Well, if you can't have the original thriftside bed, than that is a pretty darn close look for it. Have lots of fun. BTW, you southerners all SUCK!!! I am so freaking tired of dealing with rusted parts.
  4. When did you get yours???? I've had it on pre-order for like a month.
  5. Well, it depends... I pm'ed ya.
  6. I've been a member of the Yahoo site for over three years. I just kinda migrated here when it opened. I prefer the Phbb format to that disaster yahoo uses.
  7. If you are pulling it, and letting her sit, please let me know. I have 121k on this one, and the first one lasted 140k. Like to get another spare laying around.
  8. A friend calls and tells me he is cleaning out all the leftover parts from his drivetrain swap. I had asked him before to buy the D-shaft for spares. He tells me to come down and get everything from under the front end of his storage trailer. He said anything I left was going to the scrap in a day or two. So I go to get the shafts. I find the tranny and T-case laying there, with half the front D-shaft and the rear still attached. Well its pouring down rain, and his dog is looking REAL hungry. So I pick it all up and throw it in the truck. Feeling bad about taking the tranny and t-case I call him and let him know. He says to me, if it was sitting under that tarp, I can have it. So I got a good rear XJ D-shaft. A working AW-4 and NP 231 free. Some days the Jeep Gods just smile. I forgot even being annoyed about only half the front shaft being there. While I'm in the process, I might as well hijack my own thread. Anyone know anything about the T-4/ T-5 trannies???? A local guy has an 84 2.8l 2-dr XJ. He can't remember wether it has a 4-speed or a 5-speed. But he wants to sell it for a project. I know that the 2.8l isn't really a great find. But I have another 2.8 sitting at my dad's farm, and a buddy has a 2.8 EFI Camaro motor sitting that he wants gone. I have to admit the intake on the Camaro motor is really damn cool looking.
  9. IIRC, you are going to have T-case input issues. The MJ has a Puke-out with the 21 spline output, and the T-case is going to have a 23 spline input. But you can remedy that with getting a AX-15 with the 23 spline output.
  10. I wouldn't trust many of those 'VIN decoder' sites. I just had to replate my MJ, and the DMV tried to tell me the VIN didn't match My insurance company also had problems with the VIN.
  11. Like I always said blacktop is evil., pure evil

Come on, Pete... Post the 'highly technical artists rendering' You know you want to.(I really could use the laugh)
  13. I don't think its available any more. I got used to it when I worked at Satan's Village, oops Santa's Village.(BOB will get that one). I haven't been able to find it for a LOONG time though. I have used old cans of R-12 also, but that's real bad now. Like time in the Federal Pen bad.
  14. It does, I just shimmed the front up a bit, cause the handle made the controls a bit of a pain with gloves on, My Lincoln Tombstone Arc welder was on a cart made from a HF two wheel handtruck. But my dad wanted the welder for his farm shop. He mounted it to his big rolling welding table. Its great if you are sitting on the floor, or underneath something. But if you are working on something on top of the table, its kinda a pain to adjust the welder between welds.
  15. What happens when you let hillbillies have welders??? If this isn't a recipe for disaster: 4 Expired liscense plates 2 Old bed frames 1 Dead air Compressor 1/2 can leftover Olive Drab spray paint You end with this: Which in turn become this:

    4X4 in the desert

Stay safe man. My BIL is getting ready for trip number 4 to the sandbox.
  17. Does it say something about me, when I have owned, do own, or want to own every Jeep on that list?
  18. The same motor was used in Winnebago Lesharo motor homes also.
  19. I had one on my XJ. But I disliked the sound. I felt it was an extremely flat sound. I did like the fact it really was very high compared to stock exhaust. But, I replaced it with the Lifetime Meritor muffler from VatoZone. But my local AZ did warranty the one crushed shut from rocks. They just said 'road hazard, huh?'
  20. I never had before either. Looks like the weld failed. Don't know if its just wear, or my abuse. I have a bad habit of overloading my truck. I looked at an airbag suspension on GreedBay, the Financial Resources Board told me not to even think about it. I think she expects the $35 for new shocks to come out of my Jeep budget. The MJ is on my list of projects, just not anywhere near the top. And being spring, I'm sure some relation of the wife will be moving and will expect me to help move them. Then moving day will arrive, and somehow I will be the only one that shows up.
  21. Well, the MJ devolped another clunk the other day. It only happened when I hit a bump(Where I live this is VERY common occurance). Got to finding the new one. Guess what I found. Yep, the body is broken right off the mount.
  22. Here is what I did to make flag mounts for our Jeep club for parades, shows and such. I took a reciever draw bar, a couple pieces of thread rebar(all-thread would work) some nuts and a piece of schedule 40 conduit. I cut the rebar so it would be about 4 feet about the drawbar after bolting it down. I then cut the conduit so it was long enough to go from the drawbar to the desired height. Drill 2 holes for the clips, and wa-la. Flagpole strong enough to hold 4 x 6 flags, but breaks down in about 10 minutes. I can't tell you the cost though. All the threaded bar came from my work, and one of my customers gave me the conduit.
  23. Ya, but that works out to about $2.50 US. :D I usually try and hide my steel. I just set a couple of pieces out in the garage at a time.
  24. Sawzall? Usually, my 3 foot breaker and a little grunt and U-bolts are history.
