  1. I've got a line on a '90 XJ with the tow package. I haven't called the guy yet but was wondering if it might have a Dana 44 rear end. Only the metric tons or maybe this one? Let me know....
  2. The latest draft is out... http://www.co.el-dorado.ca.us/Rubicon/index.html For those of you that aren't used to my rant, we as users need to get involved or we will lose our trails, little by little. This plan is boring as hell to read but there are sections that need to be removed or changed. Please take the time to read through a section or two and send in your comments. There is a Rubicon Trail forum on the Cal4wheel.com website if you'd like to ask questions or discuss this further. Thanks, Doug Barr Rubicon Trail Foundation dougbarr@charter.net
  3. http://tinyurl.com/ra63q If this link works, here it is... It looks really clean. Maybe I'll keep an eye out for a NV3550 and 231 set-up. If I find that cheap, I might do the swap. What rig would have had the NV3500 or NV3550 with the 231? Doug
  4. I just don't need another project. I have a '47 Willys with a 4.3, SM420, dana 44's etc. but it's not done and probably won't be done this season. I have an '88 Wrangler with noise in the xfer case and it won't pass smog. I shouldn't abuse my wife's '98 XJ but it's been down to Rubicon Springs once before. I was very careful. The 32's would only go on for wheeling. I'd run 31's on the road. The dealer is asking $3995 but they are having a sale this weekend. It's not in my area, I'd have to take a chance on a $200 round trip ticket. If I like the truck I drive home. If I don't like the truck I fly home. I don't have to buy a truck right now. My 2wd S-10 will get me buy. I'm thinking I should wait until I find and '89 or newer closer to home.
  5. I just came across a 1987 MJ for sale. It looks really clean but you guys have me scared of the tranny. The plan is 32" tires w/ 4" of lift and it will run the Rubicon. I know how to stay off the skinny pedal but am I still asking for trouble? Should I wait for a late 89 or newer? I don't want to do a tranny swap. Please respond quickly if I should make a move on this truck. Thanks, Doug
  6. I'm looking for a clean MJ to build up and I've come across a four cylinder. My question is wether it's worth building or should I wait for a 4.0l? If the milage is that much better and it wheels okay, I could probably put up with low freeway power. It's listed as having a 4 speed trans. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks,
