Installing New Speedo Gear
ejndssn replied to SuperWade2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
your last image looks like it is lined up with the notch in the speedo gear and that other mark on the tc which looks like dirt :brows: mine had that same mark on the tc. there should have been a noise when inserted like a spring that has sprung  -
Installing New Speedo Gear
ejndssn replied to SuperWade2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
in the last pix if you rub your finger on the edge you should feel the knub... at first it was a pain in the arse... but once the loaded spring has sprung you know you have it then adjust to the right tick mark good luck  -
Installing New Speedo Gear
ejndssn replied to SuperWade2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
there should be a little tic mark at the base on the tc where the speedo gear goes in you can follow the vac lines connection to the base also you can line up the lines i think they are the thin ones to that knub and you should here it when they get connected that's how it worked for me  -

do you plan on reinforcing the space between the frame rails just a thought. since quite a few have gotten smacked there and appears to attract other vehicles like a magnet. other wise it looks great  -
:agree: x2 with what eagle stated you want to prevent asap or you'll have another job on your hands to mess with. I know they have rebuild kits for them which i have rebuild a few in the past now i just replace them when they show signs of leakage...

your best bet on the internal is get them from the dealer they have been a source of problems from the aftermarket world and there may be one that have a good internal slave setup. so if you go with a dealer's slave or someone on here know of a quality internal slave setup they'll pipe in IMHO external and i didn't look back

I help folks out all the time and don't expect anything in return (so i don't get disappointed :headpop: ) and if they are gracious i tell them to pass it on or pay it forward. It is my nature to help when i can and hoping that there are some of us doing the same as i see here and it is great. especially when you don't have much but the know how and the hands to pick some one up who is down on luck. some of us are here to be the good samaritan.
-
i can not provide you with the exact year but can provide you with a range the internal setup of the ax-15 ran from 89(ba10/5 early part and ax-15 later on) up until 94 when the XJ had the external setup. hope this some
