Just replace the cluster, it will be easier, don't forget to change the oil sender and temp sender. Once the new cluster is in let us know if it fixed the issue

Stupid question, is the fuse that says gauges good?

You can attempt to remove and clean it, but best bet is to replace the sending unit. But with that info, I'm wondering if it's not a bad gauge Sorry on mobile and I can get ahead of myself when typing. Yeah the question is what does the gauge do on those days. Just trying to figure out the symptoms a little better to help get this diagnosed. If someone else doesn't pipe up and give testing procedures I'll post them up later tonight

Sounds like it could be a bad float, when you say it takes a couple days to get halfway, where does on those couple days

I've also had that warranty scam applied to my brackets, second time I Went there was a sign that said we add the warranty automatically, if you don't want it tell us before you check out. Haven't heard anything about a Vin, but that would be really hard to keep track of loose parts
