Try disconnecting the linkage at the t case and see if the linkage moves freely thru the gears, if so see if you can shift the t case manually. -

depends on your plans -
You could always move the heater switch to the radio slot and put the double din below. I have not heard of people using just the dash, it's usually a full swap but I bet it could be done. But it will probably take some custom gauges.
