  1. Nice job on that rear end !
  2. I am looking for a cup holder for a center console . Hopefully in good condition . Don't know if they come in different colors . Black is fine . Thanks.
  3. Looks good , you should get allot more eng. response . Let me know how it effected you gas mileage . You get good use out of that hole saw , don't you .
  4. I think its the other way around , the renix has about 10-20 hp , less than the HO . The renix gets a little better fuel consumption . Thats also why I'm putting the cold air intake on my HO . The larger exhaust is matched with more vacuum lines .
  5. In my opinion , you should use a real glass urethane sealer that the glass shops use . Other products can have a problem sealing to the surface somewhere along the way . If it is leaking like mine , anywhere around the back glass seal , your leak could be all the way at the top . I am just better off taking the back glass out completely , scraping all the old urethane and anything left on the back pinch weld . Prime the pinch weld with a urethane primer and sealer , lay a new bead of urethane and reset the back glass . If you need more info on that I can help you out . I am a NGA certified glass tech. , or I used to be anyway . It seems like allot of work but takes only about an hour or two .
  6. A couple of guys had touched on the rust subject , this is the problem I had , to show how bad rust really is . I have spent many years in body shops , restoring old cool stuff . Ran into rust problems all the time , so I bought a truck with no rust . he he he :D sorry , I know I'm a @$$ ;) However rust rust finds itself everywhere , if not treated FAST ! I wanted to show how little tiny bubbles , clear coat spots or blemishes in the paint can be little rust spots finding its way deep into the metal . Even if just the clear coat is pealed back at all , your metal is in trouble . The uni-body cab of our trucks are so weak in areas , that there is not that much metal to save in the first place . Once its in there , you got to get it out quick ! This is a major area for allot of vehicles to have a problem . This is what I did , for now anyway . The top of the cab had areas where the clear coat was peeling , no big deal , RIGHT ? If the metal at the top of the cab gets bad , it will eat its way into your pinchwelds and door jams and such . Causing very expensive and time consuming repairs . Not to mention , getting water in the cab !
  7. i absolutely love the scenery. I like to see pics ! Maybe one day you can cut -a-chogie on down here and we'll tare it up ! :chillin:
  8. That bumper is starting to look beefy ! :peek:
  9. Newbie myself , Welcome !! :D
  10. Got to do some light wheeling during the weekend , now that I don't have any rub on my tires . Image Not Found Doesn't look like much with my sh@ty camera , but its a straight 5'000 ft drop from here . Image Not Found Image Not Found Just thought you guys would like some more pics .
  11. :agree: I,m looking at doing the whole front suspension . Great write up .
  12. I have seen allot of different set options for these Jeeps . I have seen base model MJ's with track-lock ? I've have seen almost every truck in every option . For the most part everything from the dealership was an option . So as far what they mean ? I don't know . My truck is base model and has almost everything that an MJ came with . The only thing it does not have is Trac -lock . I got my Dana 44 out of an 89" XJ , that was also base model . Someone ordered the towing pack on that jeep , special order .
  13. I found some rust on my cab roof , upon further inspection I saw the rust had gotten down to the surface in several areas . It didn't seem that bad , so I got pro-active and decided to sand and prime my cab roof . Its just a light sand but I hope this will slow it down until spring , when I can spend allot more time getting a more permanent coating . Don't let those tiny spots fool you . I had to take most of that area down to the metal and then some . Here you can see it spread . I did get most of it though . Here are some pics of the finished cab hood . I used three cans of black primer .
  14. Yes sir ! I agree with the above , also try to find an XJ with either track lock or a towing package , you'll find better drive train components that way . Thats how I got my Dana 44 .
  15. I had a guy down the street that owned three of them . He swore by them , working on them all the time . Finally , he sold them all and bought an XJ . Smart man ! Now he doesn't have too work in the cold all the time . I think he had , Jeep envy . I'm always out in the yard putting upgrades and goodies on my truck and he is trying to get one of his to start . I think he finally got tired of that . I agree with whowey , Its all in what you put in it , I believe all of our toys are money pits . Try sport bikes their even worse . 340.00 for one rear tire , that lasts maybe ,seven eight months .
  16. I think the most cost effective way , is to find a doner XJ , with the HO 4.0 . Newer model with the fuel injection is what I would do . Swap everything from the 91" , and up , from a clean XJ . You will need a stock MJ drive shaft , or cut down a XJ . Not sure on the the drive shaft lengths ?
  17. Just checked Avenger's website. Their intercooled supercharger kit for the 2.5L adds 58hp, and costs $4k! So that's roughly $70 per hp. I'm thinking it would be a LOT cheaper to just drop in a built 4.0, or depending on the cost of a donor vehicle, to drop in a small V8 (318 or 302). You'd end up spending a lot less money per hp going that route. But at least there's an aftermarket company that builds these things specifically for Jeeps... Sorry guys !! Maybe I'm just dreaming . Thats one of the baddest kits I've ever found . I agree about the price though , they do get cheaper when they offer discounts . Though its not very often. Keep in mind though , that 58hp is adjustable . I.E boost controller , smaller pulley wheels , and the kit for the 4.0 HO puts out even more power . My dream is a Hesco stroker 4.0 and an Avenger Supercharger . Just sounds good in my ears.
  18. If they don't make one for each model , it probably won't matter . I'm really starting to like Hesco products , thats probably your best bet !
  19. Now thats a cool brother ! Thats it !! I'm putting myself up for adoption . I'll take out the trash and mow the lawn and yes , I'll leave the porn collection alone ! :rotf: Dave M.
  20. I do get allot of lookers , but it seems no one will talk to me . Must be my full sleeve tattoo's and my thousand yard stare , that the Army gave me . :dunno: :peek:
  21. I like the idea of a turbo charger , I have used them in the past , but I don't like what turbo's do to your intake and exhaust valves . Maybe one day I'll try that Avenger supercharger . Its bolt on and intercooled . As a matter of fact , Avenger 4x4 made the supercharger just for jeeps and holds a copyright on the design . bummer :dunno: Not really, it's not needed. The HO ECU is fully capable of refining the A/F ratio at altitude, unlike the limited Renix system computer that is wholly external sensor dependent. :D Thanks guys , I'll try that first !!
  22. If you used 2" lift springs instead of the pucks , you'll get allot more play out of the suspension . I don't know if you used lift shocks , but they help as well . Also , how is your rear set up , add-a-leaf or shackle extensions ? New spring packs help as well . That looks like it has allot more flex than my buddy's stock !
  23. Good luck getting a new front clip to fit ! Thats going to be a b@tch ! :brows: Sorry man , been through it all before ! :ack: Dave M.
  24. Nice write up !! Is yours a high output motor !! Is the only difference , how many vacuum lines there are ?
  25. I'm still in ! I would like to have a set regardless of what you do ! I have to say , If more guys can see a rough design , or even better, a finished product , that would sort out all the questions and more people would jump on the wagon . Besides if I don't like them , I can put them on my MJ trailer . I kinda like the thought of an" armored trailer " anyway , If I like them I'll put them on my truck and my trailer . Like I said before a couple of guys on this site have two or more MJ's , If they like them they will refer friends . As long as you have them in stock, you can always sell them . You would have already sold at least 15 , done and out the door !! If you had them !! :D Get-R-Done
