  1. Gogmorgo hit the nail on the head. For a slip yoke shaft (like the stock rear shaft) you want the end of the trans/tcase and the end of the diff to sit parallel to each other with equal angles of the driveshaft on each end (within a few degrees). This image shows how to setup angles for the slip yoke shaft although perfectly inline isn't recommended, you always want some angle. For a double cardan joint (like the stock front driveshaft) you want the diff to point at the end of the trans/T-Case. In this picture you can see the difference in angle of the diff.
  2. You should change all your fluids if you haven't already and like stated above, keep a maintenance schedule, and yes that includes your diff fluid. The brands of what you use are less important but if you use a higher quality fluid, usually they are going to last longer or perform better. Oil - 10w-30 or whatever else like stated above. Trans - Auto Trans fluid for AW4. Manual trans - MT-90 or 10W-30 motor oil for AX-5 or AX-15. Not sure what the BA10 calls for. T-Case - ATF or some form of 30 weight motor oil. Differentials - 75W-90 gear oil Clutch/Brakes - DOT 3 brake fluid Coolant - the green kind. Buy concentrate and mix water to 50/50 yourself.

    Dash cams

I would definitely see them throwing the "ours is certified, yours isn't" card all day long but having something to show couldn't hurt. Any device to record speed I think would mostly help in a situation where you were in an accident and speed could cause it to sway to your fault in some way. As for the cheap dashcams, anything is better than nothing (as long as it doesn't prove you guilty for something), even a grainy image can tell weather you crossed a lane marking, ran a red light, rolled a stop sign, or someone cut you off. I just wouldn't rely on it entirely to get you out of a ticket. And I certainly agree, I wouldn't argue with a cop over it on the spot. Another thing to consider, if you go to court and fight a ticket, at least in Iowa, you still have to pay the court fees if you win the judgment. In the tickets I've had or seen, that would only take about $20 off the fine. Not worth wasting an entire day for in my opinion.

I use a cheap/generic one as well, think I paid $40 on Amazon. Nothing special about it but the video quality is decent and it's worked for over two years and still going so it's doing it's job. For speed tracking though, I think you immediately jump to the "premium" market and are going to have to get a name brand of some kind. Like Pete said, maybe look into another option for speed tracking if you don't find a dashcam you like.
  5. My first thought would be CPS as well. They can get finicky with temperature changes when they are on their way out.
  6. I ordered this kit for my 98 XJ and had no issues with them for 2 years until I sold the XJ. Not sure if it's US made or not. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F191576393429
  7. The super 10 is a pretty small muffler so it's going to be fairly loud and more likely to drone, the rest of the exhaust plays into it though so ymmv. Most of what I've read is that people with XJs tend to run the Flowmaster 40 or 44 for the deeper tone without creating drone or stupid obnoxious loud. The 40 is louder than the 44. I just put the super 44 on my truck and it isn't much louder than stock at idle but has a nice grumble. You can really hear it when you accelerate quickly, otherwise its pretty quiet in the cab with no drone at speed.
  8. Yeah it would sound pretty much the same. Are you looking for loud or for the grumbly sound?
  9. Hopefully he will! I asked him a couple years ago on Facebook and all he would do then was the dome style, he actually pointed me to a light kit like you posted and said I could retrofit it myself. If he won't do those lenses for you, he may at least be able to add reinforcement behind the lip so you wouldn't have to mess with that yourself.
  10. They can be however they need to be recessed into the fiberglass so they lay flush. You'd have to dremel out the area and reinforce it from the back with more fiberglass. I had originally planned to do that when I found an MJ visor but I bought an XJ moonvisor to officially determine if there was a difference between the MJ and XJ. During the time I owned it, I realized it would be risky to retrofit the Lund lights to a sun visor due to the dremeling and fiberglassing. It can be done and wouldn't be hard, just have to be willing to lose some money or have to do repair work if you screwed up. I have zero experience with fiberglass work like that so I decided not to do it. That was a couple years ago, now I probably would go for it.
  11. Yup that's the one.
  12. I personally think the lighted one would look great on your truck, but only if you get the proper Lund style of lights that wraps around the front edge of the visor, the repop ones have tiny dome like lights on them and those just don't look right to me.
  13. Just so you know right off the bat, XJ and MJ Lund visits are different and do not interchange properly. Real Lund sun visors pop up occasionally. Moon visors (lighted) rarely come up. Which do you prefer? There is a guy doing reproductions of them and are very accurate except for the lights on the lighted ones. He has a post in the "vendor" section.
  14. Yeah Redline MT90 or 10w-30. Only acceptable things for the AX-15 or AX-5. From what I've read and come across, there was an incorrect factory recommendation years ago that caused this to be an ongoing debate.
  15. Took the truck out today, filled it up with gas and went driving for a while. Thing is running great, sounds really good, and doesn't leak anything currently!
  16. This is really good to know. That's a bit of info I hadn't come across yet in my research.
  17. Agreed it's not the best setup. I see no reason for it on a stock 4.0 like Pete said, but I was thinking after a turbo, the oil outlet could run through the rad before going back to the pan to avoid heating the oil beyond the normal temperatures. This was really just a what if question, I was mostly wondering if the thicker oil would even make it through the rad. I'm not sure how much thicker engine oil is compared to ATF.
  18. So my 92 is a 5 speed, I just replaced the radiator with one designed for an auto trans so it has the fittings and passages to cool ATF or some other fluid. Does anyone see an issue with using it to cool engine oil? I looked around at oil coolers and they seem to be very much the same as any other cooler so it got me thinking.
  19. Oh yeah that could look good.
  20. As in battery wires or like split loom for the entire truck?
  21. Thanks! Yeah I think I will paint it to match. I don't want to overdo the accent colors so I put it in like that to see what it would look like. I debated pulling the red vacuum lines from the XJ and put them in the truck but that would be too much I think.
  22. Major progress today! Everything is put back together on the truck, although I just remembered I forgot to plug the headlight harness in . It's super clean and shiny under the hood now. Not going to get crap falling in my face constantly which is nice. Sprayed the frame and bed above the fuel tank with undercoating to so I don't have to remove the tank again when I do the whole truck. Got the new fuel tank put together and installed. The electrolisys thing worked to get the strap bolt nuts broke free after a few days worth of soaking. Had to take them off with the impact but it saved me from finding new ones. They are slightly bent but they still work. Got the wonky exhaust removed, cut, and welded together so it follows the correct path under the truck. It had obviously come from different vehicle, you can see in the picture all the random exhaust hangers I had to cut off, I added the MJ one. The Flowmaster super 44 of course went in with that. Started the truck and let it idled for a few minutes just to make sure it ran and to hear the new exhaust. It idled at about 1500rpm for a couple minutes then dropped to normal and is running smoothly and doesn't appear to be leaking anything so that's a success. Tomorrow I'm going to plug the headlight harness in before I forget and get the coolant burped and topped off as well as go through the curing process for the exhaust manifold paint. The new exhaust sounds really good, I can't wait to get out and hear it on the road. I sat in the cab and played around with where to put the XJ parking brake handle while keeping the bench seat and I think I figured out what I want to do. More to come on that.
