  1. LOL. Thanks Captain Common Sense for slapping us all back into reality......
  2. You might even be able to see which flywheel it is by looking through the inspection cover where the engine and trans meet. Did the rebuilder get a "new" Renix flex plate? If so, he could have gotten a defective one. It has happened. All this said, if the distributor is not indexed correctly per tip 13, you could be chasing your tail. I wouldn't skip over it no matter who is the engine builder.
  3. Fact remains our stock ignition system is plenty good from the factory and that the aftermarket coils are prone to untimely deaths in the most inopportune circumstances. It ain't a Ford or Chevy.
  4. How are the grounds at the dipstick tube stud on that shiny new motor? http://cruiser54.com/?p=19 Distributor indexed correctly? http://cruiser54.com/?p=68
  5. 30,000 miles......LOL. There are other things you can do to gain performance that are way more worthwhile.
  6. Clean the throttle body and IAC for sure!! Here's how: http://cruiser54.com/?p=60 Thank you iac is brand new but definitely will clean out the throttle body Most all the Renix system's issues can be avoided if tips 1 through 5 are done, along with regular maintenance.

  8. Sorry about all the dumb questions guys but just wanna learn a lil about my engine...so i did a compression test on mine i have 150psi on all cylinders except number 3 where it had around 145 psi..what does that say about my engine? and Noriyori_Kudo how can he solve that oil getting into the box issue for less than $5? Tip 25 at www.cruiser54.com ?
  9. The rotor is going clockwise. It needs to be just past the terminal. Did you see the pic?
  10. that would be my second idea ^this....Or either a bad plug/wire... So found the culprit did a compression test this morning on all cylinders 150 across the board which i'm assuming is good compression?!?...anyway when i took out #1 plug i noticed there was no carbon build up on there was almost as new as when i put it in where as all the other plugs had a little black on the tips so i thought maybe it was the plug or lead or something so connected the the plug and swung the engine with the plug out gave me a good zap so plug was good so my next bet was the injector just as Cruiser said so pulled it out and it so happened that the oring ging into the fuel rail maybe had dry rot and pieces of it broke of and apparently chocked the injector took it out cleaned it up when to the parts store picked up a set of new fel pro o-rings for 5 bucks put it back in and damn i never heard this truck idle so beautifully and just when i thought it was already idling good but like i said what do i know never owned a jeep before just glad that i did have to end up opening that engine ..anyway thanks again for ur input guys much appreciated Woohoo!! Thanks for reporting back.
  11. Whoops, I lied when I said I had done Tip 6, I meant I had done Tip 1. Started on Tip 6 today. I got the split loom removed and found where I need to solder. While I was waiting for my buddy to bring over his soldering iron I decided to try and start it and IT STARTED! I guess wiggling the wires again helped out. Went ahead and finished Tip 6 and everything is back to normal. I really should have done all of these tips at the beginning...like everyone says to do...am now kicking myself. Thanks again for all of your help man! Yay!! Thanks for driving home (pun intended) the need for doing the Tips FIRST. 1 through 5 for sure and 27 is highly recommended on an 87 and 88. 1,3,4, and 5 for sure on an 89 and 90.
  12. Bad injector? Pull the plug out and see if it's wet or dry........
  13. You're welcome!! Enjoy your MJ.
  14. Have you seen Tip 13?
  15. The knock sensor set-up was already on the car and then I installed the SC.
  16. Kept my blown Miata engine together!!!
  17. Probably the same one as used on the 258s that was located in the intake manifold. We used to tap the intake manifold with a big wrench and observe the 258s slowing down as the timing retarded. Call John at J&S if you are considering getting one. Super nice guy.
  18. Ask and you shall receive!!!!!!
