  1. Yup.
  2. I have a bigger hammer... Not really. Where does it hang up?
  3. So use the 242 tab and the 242 shifter gate?
  4. wJ booster just mount it flush after a wee bit of trimming.
  5. Bendix is fine on the ECU Here's my concern. When the rewiring was don for the CPS to go directly to the ECU per the bulletin, not a recall, the tech was to cut off the no longer used harness plug. Lots of times they were left on and you could unknowingly plug a perfectly good cPS into a harness that didn't go to the ECU.....
  6. Something like that. The aggravation of the 231 shifter gate overcame my fear of mouse $#!&. I've found three nests in it so far, one under the radio, one under the centre console, and one behind the gauge cluster. Spray with bleach. Wear a mask. Don't make dust.
  7. Did you take any ohm readings on the old one versus the new one by chance?
  8. I'm moving all my used parts from up above the garage to another building on the property. Happened across the shifters and took the opportunity to do a comparison shot. Glad it was helpful.
  9. Easier said than done, unfortunately. Connecticut hasn't allowed pull-it-yourself junkyards for more than 30 years. The chances of finding an XJ with a 242 that hasn't already been crushed are pretty unlikely. That's the problem with living in a socialist state I guess.
  10. Ballast resistor might be bad. Sure would be a good idea to TEST things first.
  11. Eagle, I believe folks have used the 231 gate on a 242. I'm thinking a guy might be able to just grab the "gate" itself though at the junkyard.
  12. These are the parts that fail when you don't address noisy blower motors soon enough. One of my buddies let it go this long. Image Not Found
  13. And I don't remember it!! Crud.
  14. All the distributor does on these is distribute spark. That thing a ma bob inside is for syncing the injectors. Unplug it and see what happens. Do you have 2 connectors in your harness to plug the CPS into?
  15. Check the line from the throttle body to MAP sensor. If it leaks vacuum, the Jeep will run pig rich.
  16. Violet with tracer and White with tracer are CPS colors.
  17. We need a conclusive method to check the ICMs. did you replace ICM and coil or just ICM?
  18. Tip 6. I just reviewed the wiring diagram and what Paradise says makes perfect sense.
  19. Probably why I liked them. Cut my teeth on sporty cars.
  20. You could still have a fuel pressure issue and/or an electrical issue. How's the vacuum line from the throttle body to MAP sensor? I would test the CPS. Tip 7. Have you performed any of my Renix Tips at all? I've attached a right angle connector to the "mystery nipple" and believe all is well there. Vacuum line to the MAP sensor is connected and looks ok. I plan to go through your entire set of renix tips this weekend when I get some time. Can I ask a stupid question? How does everyone post photos on this forum? Not a stupid question about photos. Took me forever to do it. You bring them in from another site like photobucket etc.
  21. My brother agrees with you. I don't. At my brother's suggestion, I put a set of KYB Gas-Adjusts on my '88 XJ when it first needed shocks. They were horrible. No control over large bumps and dips, yet extremely harse of small bumps and pavement cracks. I threw them away after less than three months and went to Monroe. More recently, the 2001 XJ I bought (used) for my daughter had KYBs on the front. No difference -- they were about the worst shocks you could imagine. I know KYBs seem to have a following, but IMHO they suck. If you can't afford OME, just buy Monroe. Maybe they've changed then since I used them.
