Ah, A fellow originality nut, for want of a better term. I thought I was the only one who hated to mar original sheet metal, no matter the purpose. I once thought thought about gluing some velcro strips to the top rails and bottom overhangs on the tool box so I wouldn't have to drill any holes in virgin sheet metal, . :MJ 1: . Unfortunately you can't fry a egg without breaking the shell. I hate fried eggs. scrambled? Jim yes? you're talking to yerself again. Yes I know. Seems it's the only way I can hold a decent conversation, :rotfl2:

The Jeep 2.5 and Chevy 2.8 will not interchange. The 2.8 mounting bolts are vertical, bolts into the block. The 2.5 are horizontal, bolts into the bell housing. As many of them things as I have replaced, i should have remembered it without having to go look. The Jeep 2.5 and 4.0 starters are physically similar and will interchange. Electrically the 4.0 will probably have heavier windings. Going to tear a couple apart and compare later today. We'll see.

Homelink? What in heck is 'Homelink? Know I'm gonna say "aw shet" when you tell me.

Not sure but I believe the '90,91 and '92 were sans the resistor.

Got mixed emotions viewing them. Really nice rigs, but I hate seeing a primo MJ get chopped up. Did get a couple ideas tho. I got to find me a rusty ol MJ that I won't mind chopping.

I think more people just bypassed it than carry a spare.

Well Dern. I sit a 2.8 and a 2.5 starter side by side and was going to take pics and compare. Got started doing something else and for got all about them. Have it tomorrow. Promise.

Take the two. Set them side by side and compare. How many do ya need?

can't Get Brakes To Bleed
jimoshel replied to 88mjgilley's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Are you getting any fluid from the MC? Loosen the line coming off the MC. have someone push the brake pedal. Fluid should show. If not it's the MC. If it does then go to each of the wheel cylinders. Same procedure. -
Enjoyed it. Brought back many memories. Thank you for posting. And ditto to ComancheKid's comments.

There's always a bad apple, killjoy, in every barrel of apples and as big a barrel as CC is it's surprising there aren't more. Don't base your judgement of the whole site on one individual. Stick around. You'll be the only loser if you don't.

The GF came home fri and was scared sh*tless and PO'D. Seems the '93WJ that I let her drive developed a bad case of the shakes scared her BAD! Swore she'd never drive it again and wanted me to get rid of it. NOW! I didn't. Always try to fix things first. Spent most of day yesterday removing everything from under the front end that moved, jiggled or had any play or sign of looseness..Two of the control arms, Drag link, tie rod, etc., etc. Had to use a cutting torch to get the pin out of the pitman arm. Did a good job. Only cut a very small groove in the wall. A reamer cleaned it up nice. Today put everything back together again and took it out for a test spin. No problem up to 90mph. Figured that was good enough. Started to kick it up to 95 but I noticed the cop that was following me was getting a frown on his face so I didn't. Just said that was good enough and come on back to the house. It's good for another 200,000.

Transmission Drain Plug Leaking
jimoshel replied to Biotex's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No. It's more like a washer. Gets squeezed between the head of the bolt and the surface. It's soft enough to give and fill in the rough surface but it's still firm enough it doesn't work out. -
I tried the sliding across the hood trick once. I think if the hood had been closed I might have made it.

Transmission Drain Plug Leaking

I have taken a piece of solder and wrapped it around a bolt under the head until I could make a proper repair repair. Soft copper wire will also work. -
Transmission Drain Plug Leaking

Stuff some of the GF pancake dough in it. I guarantee ya that'll stop any leak. But you better think up a way to drain the fluid when it needs a fluid change before you do tho. -
When you're the best,,,it only takes a few.

All my pixels are 7/8 of an inch high.

Could you do another one like the one above? Only have the top go over the flairs, about a 2 inch strip. Leave the bottom where it's at.

Police Artist. I draw the chalk outline around the body.

I think so, Jim. Not so sure I remember the blue truck though... didn't have it it here. It was in the yard in town. Members 6,596 posts LocationSpringfield, MO Posted Today, 08:19 AM You know Jim, for years I've wanted to see that woody trim on an MJ. So have I. Just trying to make up my mind whether to go with real wood, veneer, or just use the Paper stick on type. I do believe I will go with the veneer, Use hardwood strips on the edges. Was going to use rivets but think epoxy would do it. I really think it would look good. You got any ideas?
