    Attention!!!

Got a fella East of town facing first degree murder charge now. People had been stealing him blind and he got tired of it. One night he heard some noise and standing in his doorway, he fired a 'warning' shot blindly into the yard. He couldn't see shet so it was just a wild shot to scare anybody off. Unfortunately he hit and killed some MF thief and now he's facing first degree murder charges. Whole towns pretty much riled up about it. General feeling is ain't a jury will convict him and maybe the DA will get his head out of his @$$ and drop it.
  3. How do you identify a 760/297X axle? What model, years did they come on?
  4. When my clutch master cylinder was leaking I stuffed the area above the fuse panel with paper towels. Ran it that way for 6 months before I finally got around to changing the cylinder. Changed towels about once a week or so.
  5. hey do you have any pics on your xj, seems interesting thanks :yeah that:
  6. The question from MJremi and my own experience yesterday got me wondering what it costs to register and, or title a truck in other pars of the country. Yesterday i transferred the title over and got plates for a 1990 MJ. Cost me $52.60. It would have cost me $85 for regular plates but I got the farm plates. $10 title transfer. $42 registration. Anyway no inspection, emission or otherwise.
  7. Nice looking truck. Makes me want to fire up the paint gun and dress a couple of mine up. Congratulations.
  8. Not sure just when it originated but I do know there was adapters for airing up tires by removing a spark plug back in the late forties. Could be purchased at any auto parts store.
  9. Browsing their catalog I noticed Zone has a 4 1/2 inch lift kit for '86-'92 MJ'S. They don't say what the spring arch is or anything about the shackles. Already sent them a note asking for more details. Is any body familiar with this set up or know anything about it? Details please. I have a '96ZJ with their 4 inch lift and it's nice.
  10. CPS works off the flexplate. torque converter, or it's position has nothing to do with it.
  11. '87 MJ uses a Delco Remy, think GM, alternator. Delco Remy alternators are available in just about any configuration and output you can imagine. Hit the JY and start looking, or ask the parts guy at the local auto parts store.
  12. Been out checking. Used the following engines for comparison. 1985 2.5 XJ 1986 2.8 MJ 1987 2.5 MJ 1991 2.8 S10 1995 2.8 S10 1993 4.0 XJ The size. make year of engine has nothing to do with interchange. All V belts will swap. All serpentine belts will swap. Serpentine and V belt will not swap. The Vbelt pully is a hair bigger than the serpentine pully. It's so close that a couple swipes with a rat tail file in each hole will do it tho. This is fitting the pulley onto the water pump shaft. Not the fan blade to the fan clutch.
  13. It looks like the starter for the port, inboard engine on a WWII B29.
  14. I used the spreader jaws on a 10 ton Porta-Power. Over kill but it worked.
  15. Just checked. The AX4,5.15 and Ba 10 shift levers are all identical from the cover up. Found a note on another XJ site describing the way Keyav8 did it. Tried it. It worked.
  16. '86-'89 AX5, maybe AX15, How do you remove the upper shift lever from the lower? Book just says remove it but gives no clue how. There's two holes like there might be a pin holding it. I got the trans out by removing the four bolts holding the cover on the top of the tranny. leaving the lever and cover hanging from the console. floorboard.
  17. Got the 2.8 out of my '86 this afternoon. When I first started removing stuff I marked every connection and took pics. About half way thru I decided there was no way over half of the crap was going back in so I quit and just removed everything.

    Vin Check

Could someone run a VIN for me? I tried but the results I got didn't make sense. 1JTML65T4HT069118
  20. This is the preferred way. How ever for some folks coins are tight and any part that can be salvaged and re used is beneficial.
  21. The way I do it. Soak them good with PB or Liquid Wrench. Just get the nut to move a little bit Now tighten the flare back up. Loosen. tighten, loosen tighten. Just keep working it back and forth. Let the PB work into the joint. Don't rush it. I've removed many a stubborn line this way. with no damage to the line. Don't get in a rush and push it. Just take it easy and keep working it back and forth.

    '87 Mj

Finally got a look at it. VIN 1JTML65T4HT069118 Looks like a MT. Had MT on the tailgate and 7 leaf rear springs. D44, 4:10. Clutch was out so no test drive. 260.XXX on the clock. Engine ran good, No smoke or noises. By Colorado standards was a rust bucket. By rust belt standards it had a little surface rust. Had mounts on front where it was used as a snow plow..Nice interior Loved the console. He wanted a $1000. I offered $400. He's going to come out and take a look at my yard. He needs a engine and tranny so there may be a trade. possible.
  25. :agree: That too! Just pulled a 2.8 from my '86. Got a hole in the pan where no 2 rod went thru it. Can not believe the crap I was pulling from that engine. Enough vacuum lines to outfit a Navy cruiser.
