Trace that wire back and it goes to a 6 pin connector with only 5 wires. The position for that wire is empty. So basically you have a orange wire coming from nowhere going nowhere. Probably for a possible option not installed or future upgrade. Can find no mention or reference on it in any manual.

Just measure the ID, the OD on the fitting and get a couple feet of that.

3 engines were available for '86. The 2.5 4cyl, the 2.8 V6 and the 2.1 diesel. The senders are the same. I have noticed a slight physical difference between pumps of different manufactures but not to the extent they didn't fit or work. The pressure between he 2.5 and 4.0 motors is 30 and 40 psi. However I have swapped them and never noticed any problem. LWB and SWB makes no diff to the sender.

If it's smooth all the way across take the cut out of the middle. Only one patch that way. If it has ridges then cut alongside them. Help hide the cut. If it's smooth you have 2 options. 1, sand down about 1/8 of an inch.2" on both sides of cut. This will make the patch even. 2. Deliberately build up the patch, making a peak or crown. Number one caution. Make sure surface is CLEAN before applying any resin. Good Luck. Jim

Cheapest gas tanks???? please look
jimoshel replied to one_bad_MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just the pump. Looking at them, I don't think a XJ mounting assy would be that hard to modify to fit a MJ, and if you can't find a good one I may have one you can have. -
Today I do something no body who knew me as a kid thought would ever happen. I celebrate my 75th birthday. Thanks mom. Considering people living to their 80's and 90's that may not seem like a big deal but when you realize that I was always the dummy, er,, daredevil that did dumb things, IE, jump off the barn roof with a bed sheet playing paratrooper, Race a motorcycle with bald tires, you get the idea. Looking forward to another 75. Jim  :clapping: Did I mention the first time I ever flew an airplane I was 14? And never had a flying lesson?

I've bought 3 fuel pumps from Ebay for MJ, $30 each. worked good, No complaints. -
Take a piece of wire, gas welding rod works good, and bend a small hook on one end. use it to pull on one side of the seal while pushing on the other, after loosening the mains.

I got 2 '84 XJ's. Both 4dr. The first one I got to Make a rock crawler.2.8, 4sd, 4wd. Got ready to 'go at it' and noticed it was rust and dent free with nice interior. Didn't have the heart to hack on it. It's sitting in back waiting for someone to want it bad enough to pay me for it. The second one same story, Rust dent free body, nice interior, 2.5, 4wd, 4 spd with a BUSTED SHIFT RAIL. Trani is in the back, in pieces waiting rebuild.

NO!NO!NO! The only way they would pull the air is if you reversed them. Or drove in reverse.

Pete: If you look at the spokes on your rims you will notice they have a aerodynamic shape. As you go down the highway they catch the wind and direct it onto the calipers, thereby pushing them into the rotor. The faster you go the harder the wind pressure pushes the pads into the rotor increasing the braking. A sort of a built in governer. I believe they were originally designed that way to cool the brakes but as we all know, things don't always go as planned. :D

Use the seals. A light coat of oil on the stems will help them to slide on. Use a 7/16 deep well socket to push them on with.

Read some of the pilot write ups and maintenance replies. You'll never feel the same way about flying again. EX, Pilot: Gear squeaks when retracting. Maint. Don't retract gear. Pilot: Altimeter reads off at 30,000ft Maint: Unable to duplicate problem on ground. Pilot:A/C doesn't work when stew is in cabin. Maint: Make stew sit in Co-Pilots lap. There is a entire book dedicated to these entries. :rotf: -
Finally! A answer to my question. Thank you, one_bad_MJ

Engine - 1st crank after setting
jimoshel replied to centralnc's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
B4 gunking and HP washing make sure the valve covers' and spark plugs are back on, in. Replacing plugs won't hurt anything. Inspect them. If they're good then why replace? Just use regular oil, SG or SG/CD 10-30W. -
Everything I read says it was a joint venture between Mitsubishi and Chrysler. And that didn't answer my question. What transmission?

Engine - 1st crank after setting

:agree: But with one more step. After turning the motor over by hand I spin it with the starter for maybe 30 seconds, or if I can see the lifters when I see oil flowing. This gets oil into the bearings, lifters, etc, so the engine isn't fired up dry. Also I made an adapter where I can remove the distributer, where applicable, and spin the oil pump using a 1/2 electric drill. -
Does any one know what the 5 speed trans in the 1992 Eagle Talon was? I have the chance to get one, wrecked, but can't find any info on it. Since it 's Chrysler I'm thinking it might be a AX15 but nobody seems to know. The way the car is now I can't get to the tran to check it out. Jim :dunno:

If your bridge is made out of 2 1/2 X 1/4 tubing maybe they should buy it. :brows: If I had one of these hitches, I think I would just weld a bead all the way around the piece, All four sides, front and back, building it up to fit. It would be a custom job, couldn't be used on anything else but at least you'd get the use of the hitch.

Jeep makes "popping" noise under load
jimoshel replied to kyleag89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not sure how FI would be different from carb but I had that problem with a carburated engine. It was a sticking intake valve. A little Marvel Mystery Oil down the valve stem cleared it up. A compression test would show it up. -

Sludge? Sounds like maybe the PO didn't drive it much and sludge, carbon built up. Your driving loosened it and blew it out. Suggest you change oil and filter(sans Fram) ASAP.
