  1. I thought Green Beach N of DaNang had some great surfing potential. Somebody said the ones further N by Hue were even better. Sadly never got to try either one. Ever notice how people with a upbeat attitude always seems to find more wonders than the sour pusses? And somewhere along the line this :hijack: Got
  2. I think 2 things primarily shaped my life. When I was a kid I loved reading and especialy geography and history. I knew then I wanted to travel and see things. Also there would be these old farts, telling me how they wished they had done this or that when they were younger. I made up my mind then that i was going to do what i wanted, and I did it, pretty much. I figure maybe I've been around this world maybe 12 times. Been to 6 of the Continents,49 of the states. When the incident on Mosquito Pass took place I was working on Kwajalein, Marshall Islands and was home on vacation. I had completely rebuilt the GTO in 1971, one day before I left for Kwaj and that was the first time I really drove it. And I'm sure I bore a lot of people with my been there, done that, attitude but Dammit I have And if talking about your youth isn't one of the things you can do when you get older, then why bother? I really feel sory for peeps without a sense of humor, as well as those who have lost a loved one. Jim
  3. Haha. My girlfriends grandfather told me he once took his shiny new Grand Wagogneer over a pass around Leadville (the name has slipped my mind). His wife argued his new Jeep would get torn up, but they still went for it. Got to the top and saw a family of 4 in a convertible GTO. Guess with big motors and a limited slip rear end you can do anything. If your GF'S GD was driving a brown/tan Waggy over Mosquito Pass in July,1972 tell him you talked with the driver of the Blue '65 GTO convertable,389, 4spd,posi trac, who remebers him and the pleasant conversation we all had. Jim
  4. Been over every rock trail, including Imogene and Hayden Pass in Colorado with a 2 wd '38 Chevy 2dr sedan. That was when I was a dumbass kid and didn't know you couldn't do them things unless you had 4wd. :clapping:
  5. It's the moisture in the popcorn. Wait a minute. The human brain is 98% water. POP! When TV first came out it was the same thing. Every bodies gonna get deformed from all them XRays.
  6. Under the hood install a turbo charged Lamborgini. In the bed goes a hot tub and bar under a red and white umbrella. When a cop stops ya, offer him a drink. Sell me the truck and quit stewin about it.

Sat and watched the whole thing. I've got to have better things to do with my time. Altho the young lady with the mustache starting to undress was titillating, almost.
  8. I think some owner of a small fabricating shop, or hobbyest, is missing a opportunity here. From what I've seeen of plastic forming it's not all that hard to set up a mold. Maybe the next big import from China? And speaking of tail lights, what happened to the fella that needed 15 orders to start his production? :dunno:
  9. WT*, There is a Camanche tail light, just one, not even a set on Ebay now with 26 bids at $113.50. And I opened the bidding on it 2 days ago for $9.00. Sheesh.
  10. The front of the long box is 55.5". The rear is 54.5" This is inside the rail measurement. The rail is 2" wide. Will have the short box measurements manana.
  11. With the interest in caps, covers, maybe there should be a thread similar to the drive shaft length one. Below is my offering. 1988MJ,LB.Sportsman by E.D. Industries, Rogersville, Mo. H=24", L=90.5", W=59.75" Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found 1987 S10 LB, Ely's Pick Up Trucks. Colorado Springs, Co. H=25", L=90", W=61" Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
  12. Get a petcock with a sleeve on it to slip a piece of tubing over it. We're talking less than a pint or so, but still don't make a mess in the engine compartment.
  13. Dave, Sorry. Girl friend took one look and said "MINE" Fella's got a 55 Chevy 1/2 t P/U with a 265. I'm gonna rebuild the engine an new clutch, pressure plate, an bearing. We call it even. Anytime I can substitute labor for money it's a good deal.
  14. Transmission is good. Transfer case is good. Clutch is bad. Started it. Tried to shift into gear, just clashed gears, would not disengage transmission. Turned motor off. Trans in 1st. Start engine, accelerate, deaccelerate, severaltimes, go to2nd, repeat. Go to 3rd. did this in all 5 gears in both Hi and Lo range. Tran good. Clutch bad.
  15. It's a 1998TJ, 4.0L, AX15, yellow, And I don't think it's a tranny problem but a clutch.
  16. OOOPS, Had a I'm with Correy, an got to thinkin ( yes that was a rare experience) Went out an looked. The '87 is a BA10. To atone for my sin I am buying drinks for everybody that shows up between now and midnite. Jim
  17. This is the one the guy took home in his lunch box, one piece at a time.
  18. I just love opening up worm cans. I haven't seen it yet. Just bought it over the phone. Guy calls me wanting to know if I had a AX15 for a 96 Wrangler. We talked. I bought it. Going in this afternoon and get it. And I do know a BA10 when I see it. Should know more about it when I get it home. I hope I like the color. :rotf:
  19. Just got me a 96 Wrangler 4.0 with a busted AX15. I have a '87 Ax15, 4.0.From what I've gathered on my brief stay in CC the input on the 231 is different, 21vs23 spline. What I think I can do is swap the complete'87 tranny and tc into the Wrangler. Not sure about Ujoints. Will check them when I get there.Haven't tore either one down yet. Any comments appreciated. Jim
  20. $500 is fair but $695 is a bit much. Let him sit on them for a couple weeks. If he sells them, end of problem. But maybe then he'll at least split shipping with you. It really depends on how bad he wants to sell and you want to buy.
  21. Welcome to the club.Check Ebay for tie rod ends and just about everything else for XJ and MJ. But compare all prices. Don't order the first part you come to.
  22. As anyone who's been on here very long knows I am a great fan of the 2.5 engine and think it's being unfairly mistreated by most members of CC. This is based on my '89MJ, 2.5, 5spd, 4.10, 215R15. 21 MPG, 80-85 on the highway. I realy like my truck. However there was a down side to it I never revealed, until now. It wouldn't always start. If I started it everyday no problem. Started it every other day, would have to crank it 10-15 seconds before firing. If it sat over 4 days forget it. Two weeks ago it had been sitting for 3 days and then wouldn;t start. I got ticked an parked it. Started to part it out. This morning I was reading threads about the CPS and thought'why not' Hit the key, it turned over but no start. I pulled the connector, 200 ohms. ac volts on meter, hit starter, .5VAC. Connected plug back together, hit starter. It fired right off. *#$%^(&^#!$#%*&(*$#&($@ an a gosh darn it or two. Maybe CC should start a rant an rave section. Jim :dunno: :fool:
  23. It should be printed in every owners manual and factory shop manual that "Thou shalt not touch any fastening device until it has been bathed overnight, or weekend, in rust penetrating oil'.
