Clutch issues - can't diagnose, video included
Big Dan replied to Big Dan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I got busier than I thought I would be. Hopefully tomorrow night (Thursday), I can get out in the shop and provide an update on the sensors. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk -
Clutch issues - can't diagnose, video included

I'll check cps and map, this evening, and report back. If no issues there, I'll begin the transmission removal process. Not looking forward to it. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk -

I'll double check. Should be set correctly, but, I suppose, that could always come out of whack. However, I would think that would effect fuel "dumping" both clutch in and out. And, not just one scenario. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk -

I'll take everything apart soon, and check it out. I haven't been in the transmission for a few years. I had an issue that was weird, with the clutch, a short time ago. But, it ended up being a grounding issue. And the engine would ground when I pushed the clutch in. However, I did not have to remove anything, transmission related, to fix Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk -

It was. However, I removed that some time back. So the clutch switch, and related stuff, is out of the vehicle. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk -

I'll give it a look and report back. Specifically, it's no load (with gas applied) only with the clutch pedal depressed. Unless I'm mistaken, the MAP sensor wouldnt have a clue if the clutch pedal was depressed or not. -

No, nothing sounds loose and RPMs, at idle, are the same with clutch pedal in or out. The only time the issue occurs is clutch pedal depressed (in neutral or in gear) and gas applied. Once the vehicle is moving, and in gear, there seems to be no symptoms. However, even when moving, if I push the clutch in and hit the gas, the engine will stutter. I'll be taking everything apart soon. But, I was hoping to get an idea of what it was, before hand, so I could have parts ready. -

On level terrain, I can let out of the clutch, slowly, without killing the vehicle. But, yes, if I dump the clutch, it will die as it should. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk -
Couldn't find anything on this. First off, ax15 swapped in and has run fine for a few years. I kept a new ba10/5 pressure plate and clutch in (out of, at the time, ignorance). It's been fine. Anyway, this issue started about a week ago. Once in gear, no problems at all. Any time the clutch pedal is pushed in, and gas is applied, the engine stutters. This makes it difficult to rev match or get up a hill, from a stop. Is this a pilot bearing, throw out bearing or something else? http://nighthawk101.com/video/jeep/YouCut_20211030_125455044.mp4 edit - video link fixed

No disrespect, but that's a very open ended question. Can you be more specific? Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk

Cluster swap from '96 to '91

Edit - Disregard, you said 91. I'll let an HO guy chime in -
MTS makes new fuel senders, if that is needed. The actual fuel pump is a Bosch 69302

I run LEDs, in the rear, with one incandescent bulb in the mix. That created enough draw, for me, to operate normally. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk

Hopefully eaglescout will be able to locate something. On mine, I ended up running individual lines. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk -
Depending on the year, wagoneer axles have passenger side pumpkins as well. Wagoneer is also leaf spring. So, it would not be an easy swap. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk

It is supposed to be UV resistant. It's held up, color wise, on my bed for a couple years. I did, however, have some chipping, recently. But, that may be more my fault than the product. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk

We technically don't have a cam sensor. There's a "pickup sensor" in the distributor that acts as such. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk

AX15 Swap and Identification
Big Dan replied to VagaBond Comanches's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I did forget that, thank you for bringing it up. For people who see this in the future - If you're switching to external slave, ensure you purchase an external slave bearing retainer and swap that. Your internal bearing retainer will not work. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk -
AX15 Swap and Identification
Big Dan replied to VagaBond Comanches's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If the input shaft is .59 inches, you will be able to use your current pilot bearing. If it is .75 inches, you will need to purchase part number PH77, which is a pilot bushing with the same OD as your engine, but the ID of the newer AX15. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk -
Ax15 swap troubles and questions
Big Dan replied to Jesse J's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Unless I'm incorrect, that's to fit the, later, .75 inch input shaft into an older engine. The 92 ax15 should still have the, older style, .59 inch input shaft Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk -

I used all thread in the top, installed the transmission, bolted it up, removed the all thread and re installed bolts in its place. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk
