If one was to redefine the front end of an MJ/XJ and had the lens for the corner light, but didn't have the socket for the bulb that goes into the lens, would the socket from the old system fit in the new corner lights hole? I'm speaking of the one on the actual side of the vehicle, not the one next to the grill: If the old one will not work, does anyone know where to get ahold of the proper socket?

Shocks and U-Bolt plates are moved up, so it helps a lil, but you do still have your spring perches down low.

Yeah, I was gonna suggest Rusty's and some shackles. You oughta try out some Chevy leaves. MJ leaf springs are I think 56", 31" in one direction of the center bolt and 25" in the other. Chevy springs are 31" and 31", so they should fit if you just drill out a new hole in our ever-so-long front spring hangers. Haven't tried it yet, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't! And as Scott said, just cause your diff is hanging down doesn't mean anything else should be. I drag my Toy's axle tubes everywhere. I'd convert the Manche to SOA if I needed the lift just because of clearance issues.

The part number for the ones I used on my 35 was DCC-4120074. They were a little big, and I'm pretty certain they'd fit a 44.

The Toyota Pickup section of Pirate is cracking down on certain forms of flaming. The admin decided that searches became impossible cause all the results that came up just said "try searching" and the search feature was becoming useless. I'm glad they're changing for the better, and I hope NAXJA can follow suite. It's a very helpful resource.

uh...check the math there, that makes no sense :nuts: higher city mileage than highway? 3 spd auto puts the motor at 4000+ RPMs on the highway, so yeah, better in the city.

The county club here does a clean-up of a place that's less than 10 min from me. It happens every year at about the same time, and I always help out, even though I'm not part of the club. The community watches heavily, and four wheeling is praised during the time of the clean-up. It's a great thing.

Pretty sure the lift is the spring over. If you're looking for a kit that's made to change a 35 to spring over axle and you want to use it on a 44, you need to grind out the spring perches they send you so that they fit your larger axle tube diameter, and you'll need different u-bolts because of the diameter. If it's just an add-a-leaf, it doesn't matter.

CW, since you have had these in hand, how hard do they look to you to fab? I've gotten pretty damn good at fabbing (not that I'm cocky...), but did you notice anything that's not well reproducable with a welder and basic cutting tools?

I am no way going against what either of you two are saying, but I'm pretty sure this isn't a GC axle, but only the brakes. Welding spring perches on an aluminum housing is tricky. If it is the aluminum 44, take that into mind if you plan on welding your own spring perches on.
