Theres a parts rig behind the barn of my dads neighbor that I drive by whenever I go to work in the shop. I also pass a black shortbed every day when I leave work- he goes the opposite way. Wonder if its the same guy?

Were the tail housings screwed too? Guess I know where I am going on my next GA trip!!

Whoa! Thats awesome! Was this a yard near atlanta?

Likewise with the housings... I have a 3D printer ready to go, if only I knew how to design the housing

AMC Jeep Cherokee Radio (model 8936000555)
RustyRodder replied to schmier1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have that exact radio in my garage- pretty sure is FSJ, specifically a mid-80s J10/Grand Wagoneer -
Awesome, thank you!

Nice! Did you buy through the import guys? I wanted to get one of these for my dads property- but NY has a stick up their bum about the Kei trucks (and apparently cars). AC, diff locks, low range- perfect for his 45 acres! Ended up with another atv instead, not as good. Been looking to import a car for a while now. I may have to pull the trigger!

Later model knuckle assembly (Or whole 2wd axle)
RustyRodder replied to RustyRodder's topic in Wanted
Can you shoot me any pics? I am in Albany, so not too far -
Tired of dealing with the early 2wd spindle bearings- looking for the later knuckle setup. Or Id take the entire 2wd axle if you want and I am able to (No way that could ship!). Located in NY

Well snap, thanks for that! I have a WJbooster/master/lines that I havent installed because of the grinding. Since its that easy, DD booster here I come!

Is there any other rewiring, or is it just remove OE switch -> install OE wires to the correct spot on caddy switch -> install caddy switch to contact brake pedal? I am an electrical dumbass, so that would be helpful here as well

I am going to go with the boring route- A honda Accord. Yeah, you said no honda tax, but its worth it. Plus old enough that you can get them reasonable. I had a 2003 LX with the 2.4/auto combination. My aunt had it before me, and regularly drove it from upstate NY to NC comfortably. I drove it a few times from NY to GA, getting 39mpg and no issues with comfort. I would recommend a 2006-2007 EX-L with that engine combo. No timing belt, so no worries there. Just make sure that its kept up on oil, if the PCV goes they will burn a bit of oil and will run low. low oil consistantly causes the chain to stretch and skip teeth. But on the EXL, youll have heated seats, sunroof, dead balls reliable engine and trans (the V6 had transmission issues on the 98-04ish). You can get a kit to change the center stack to a standard double DIN now.

71’ Chevelle SS454
RustyRodder replied to All around mj's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
All good! I passed up a chance at a 454 powered 1973 S3 once. Regrets there. 71 was a bit of the 'true' SS, since you could still get the 402 and LS5. Early literature listed the LS6 and LS7, but they ended up being over the counter dealer instaled engines. You also had the Heavy Chevy in 1971, which was a cool one. Stick some ATF or MMO in the cylinders, let it sit for a few days. Then crank it over by hand a few times. Do you have a drill that you can prime the oil system with? If you do, great. If not, it can be risky. A friend didnt prime the system, but had no problem reviving a 73 mach 1 with a 351 2v after 32 years. just nervous at first oil change for bearing material! -

Very nice!!! My dad and I have a 69 SS. Make sure you are checking your data to the right year- thats a 71 model, unless the grill/header/parking lights have been changed -
I actually really like this, and so does the gf. She has a 2018 JLU now, and wanted a Gladiator; Now, she may be looking into the Bronco when her lease is up next June, unless Jeep gives her a good deal to stay. The Bronco has most features she options standard, and fits all our needs (Minus towing ability vs JT). Coming down to mpg and lease offers (One ford dealer is already offering 1k under invoice for purchase).
