Rich, the owner, the fabricator, and the guy that built the Cheromanche sent me a bunch of pictures of the build process last night. In my opinion it is definitely done right and the attention to detail is amazing. The paint is fabulous also. Nice truck. power windows and door locks, 3.07 diffs. Everything works and zero rust anywhere on the truck. No I am not buying it. I am thrashing on my 90 Eliminator to get it completed and on the road by springtime and then I will be starting on the 91 Hunter green Pioneer resto.

I guess I am different. I would hunt that little POS down and beat the teeth out of his skull....... I spent the last 30 years of my life in a profession where every day I dealt with idiots. Had to be careful what I said, how I reacted to things etc. guess what....I retired last January. I left my filter and my good nature on the floor of the PD when I left. Somebody does that to my vehicle? They better not ever let me find them or see them again.

I saw that the other day when browsing for Comanche trucks. Looks really nice...and I doubt you could ever build that truck for 10k. somebody did a good job.

holy crap.....that is amazing. -
spoke to the ebay seller just now. The owner is now in negotiations with three different potential buyers....lol I am not one of the those negotiating..... In other news....I stopped at a wrecking yard 10 minutes from my house yesterday and found a Comanche with a complete unmolested Dana 44. Cutting it out tomorrow whenever this rain stops. Christmas came early.

4x4 install questions
Nodrama43 replied to Henry89Manche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
^^^^^^^^^^. This I just bought a rusted out 92 XJ Laredo to use as a donor for my 91 Hunter green pioneer conversion to 4x4. I am going to be Using the following parts for the conversion. Front HP D30 AW-4 trans NP-231 transfer case Front driveshaft Bucket seats ( mint) Full console with floor shifters Tilt steering column Door panels Dash shell Full gauges Windshield Front bumper Header panel Headlight bezels Grill And anything else I end up needing. I am also pulling the Chrysler 8.25 rear diff to have as a spare for my other XJ. The engine runs good but I already have a complete 95 HO sitting in the shop as a spare. I may put it on craigslist cheap. I will also rob the hood and front doors for spares then scrap the thing. I think I did pretty good for 600.00 total. Donor XJ......good idea....- 9 replies

Charcoal Grey Interior Paint

You need an emplyee to cross reference it...or call SEM direct. I imagine they would be happy to help however they may not offer that specific formula in a spray can. -
Floor board treatment recommendations?
Nodrama43 replied to Skorpyo's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Planned use for the truck would guide me. If it is going to get wheeled and driven in salt etc. I would go ahead and seal it all while you have it apart. More protection cannot be a bad thing? -
I agree on the car payments. I retired last year and still have a house payment, my wife's car payment, and our Ford truck payment. That truck was bought last month to haul the camper and boat and hopefully will last me for 20 years as it is for vacations etc. not a daily driver. My daily driver right now is a 2001 XJ but my plan is to DD a Comanche.

carfax will be of no help. Most states have a process where you can do a title search by VIN. I have done those in the past. If the car is a Ford order a Marti Report from Kevin Marti. That document will show what state the vehicle was shipped to when new. If you do a title search in that state for that VIN you will get the information you are looking for. I have talked to several original owners, or previous owners of cars I have. I have never had one freak out on me yet. Most of them tell me if I ever want to sell that car to give them a call. Good luck.

just watched that last night myself.

I spoke with him yesterday again about the truck and the auction. If it doesn't sell on the auction he and I might make a deal. I am not going to reveal what he told me he would originally take for it but in my opinion the truck is worth it. It is optioned exactly like I would order one today if they were available. The fact it is a Renix does not concern me in any way. I would say to anyone that if you don't like a Renix....or bucket seats, or Pioneer hocky stick stripes, or chrome bumpers, or a Dana 44 with skid plates and tow hooks, then this truck is not for you. Find another one this nice and unmolested original that is for sale. When you do post it up for us to see. I ordered a couple thousand dollars worth of parts yesterday for my 90 Eliminator. When I get the truck done I will have over 15k in it. You cannot build a truck for the price of this one on Ebay. Anyone that has built these trucks.....or any other vehicle for that matter.....knows this is fact. anyway.......looks like there are a couple bids on the truck. They are still a loooooong way from his reserve. Going to be an interesting weekend.

Charcoal Grey Interior Paint
Nodrama43 replied to Minuit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
SEM Color Coat. Flexible covering. very common in any reputable automotive paint store. You can get it in many different colors in spray cans. The numbers I posted are the color code formula numbers for the two shades of charcoal that are the subject of this thread. It is mixed in quart, gallon, pint cans like any other automotive paint. -
this truck interested me due to the color and options and being so close I could easily see it in person. I know what it costs to restore a Comanche back to this condition and the price he agreed to sell it to me for was much less. I understand the seller hoping to hit the lottery and it is all good....it just isn't going to be with me lol. Bid high and bid often folks......lots of lookers and watchers but no bids yet. I think it will sell for his BIN price or close to it anyway.

Ok got up at 0430 and headed north. Called the owner at 0515 to let him know I was on the way. He promptly backed out of our deal and said he wants to let the auction run it's course. Oh well........sounds like my 90 eliminator is going to be my daily driver which is OK too. I have been waiting on Jeep to build a new truck for about ten years. The crew cab wrangler with a bed or the renegade front end concept truck is not what I want. When I saw this one pop up I figured it was as close to a new truck as I was going to find. The right color, right equipment and options right down to the steel wheels. I was gonna drive it everyday and then give it to a grandson when he turns 16 in 8 years. My 90 eliminator is also a black short bed 4x4 bucket seat console 5 speed truck. I am almost done with it and when it is done it will be a mint never rusted completely restored truck as well. Not a 17k original unmolested truck but still very capable and road worthy. Things happen for a reason folks and if it is meant to be I will end up with the truck. If not I will use the funds to restore my 91 Hunter green pioneer. It is a win win win situation for me whichever way it plays out.
