The Ford GT40 and the Comanche (Cherokee) were both engineered by Roy Lund. Unfortunately Mr. Lund passed away recently. He had quite a successful career. https://jalopnik.com/ford-gt-and-jeep-cherokee-engineering-legend-roy-lunn-d-1797912762 Dick Teague was another automotive great, but he was a designer, responsible for the Jeep styling.

A little more trivia...what other supercar (on the list) was developed by the same engineer that developed the Comanche?

I'm interested in a set for a LWB.

OK here's a couple of AMX/3's that I took pictures of back in 1983, right after I bought my first AMX (I was 17 YO at the time). I know, a long time ago, way before digital cameras. I had my father's polaroid so I could only take a couple. The owner of the yellow one was a very nice guy and he let me sit behind the wheel. Somewhere I have photos of one other car that I've got to see, so I've seen 3 of the 6 built.

Muntz Jet OK here's one that came out of the same design studio as the Comanche.

Yep, was slated to be an option on the '57 Rebel. Even without fuel injection, the '57 Rebel was still the second fastest production car for 1957. Only the fuel injected 'vette was faster.

How many have seen or own a Jeep Comanche 1985 launch Coin?
budwisr replied to Kjdrew35000's topic in The Pub
I hope you're source meant AMC and not Chrysler, as Chrysler didn't buy AMC until 87. Are you sure these were given away at the factory? Usually items like these were given to the dealers. -
Sorry to hear about your Jeep. Definitely don't get in a hurry when dealing with the insurance company, generally the longer you hold out the better the settlement. Good luck

The correct ones should have the AMC logo (like your second example) but with the word "JEEP" (like your first example). BTW in your second example, the keys with the "for American Motors" are replacement type blanks.

For a 1987 Jeep they should have the AMC "Amark" insignia not the Chrysler "pentastar".

I've had a few Eagles over the years, right now I'm down to one SX/4 and a parts car. As far as being ugly, I guess that's in the eye of the beholder, most people I know think my Comanche is ugly. They are excellent in the snow and are capable of off roading too. Check out this video

Fixed it for you. Congress sets the budget. The "Prez" requested a 7.8 percent increase in Defense Department spending, Congress approved a 6 percent increase.

Ah good, something other then the obvious "french" connection.

A member of our local AMC club is running a Barry Allen 401 in his Comanche.

A guy in our local car club has a Comanche with 500+ horsepower, although its a 2WD so it has trouble finding traction. I wonder how the JK transfer case deals with all those ponies?

Yep, that was Dom Jiardine's car. His grandson has it now although last time I seen it, it was for sale. Interesting story how Dom, a regular production worker, bought it from AMC. Here's another oddball AMX prototype. :)

Here are a few of my odd ball cars (and a truck);

The answer is somewhat convoluted. Chrysler billed the buyout as a merger and the AMC nameplate was used on some of the Canadian built sedans into the 90s. Chrysler renamed the AMC "division" the Jeep/Eagle Corporation when the buyout became official in August of 87. In November 97 Chrysler dissolved the Jeep/Eagle Corporation and the Jeep brand became part of the Chrysler Corporation. As far as the info on the titles, at least in Illinois, has always been at the discretion of the person filling out the paperwork. I have one AMC car listed as a "trailer" for the model.

I collect pretty much anything Budweiser. I have everything from the usual cans and neon signs to arcade games and even an actual billboard sign. I also collect AMC cars and Jeeps (both toys and full size cars) Just added the Comanche to my collection last November.

Ugh... yeah. We're the worst. Its the Rambler heritage.....extremely thrifty.

New Hummer: i threw up a little in the back of my mouth
budwisr replied to Incommando's topic in The Pub
GM still retains the rights to the Hummer brand, so it could happen. I'm guessing if it does happen, it would be built in house by GM and not by AM General. I think the relationship between GM and AM General is probably over.
