  1. what I'm saying is could this be done in reverse?
  2. I def interested in this. Does the heads match up? Water jackets and all? I am wanting to replace the motor in one of my mjs as the block is cracked. i am having a hard time finding a renix era block.
  3. Does it have a bung for the O2?
  4. It doesnt look so "cheaply made" in this picture. And good looking out on the moter mount. i already changed the freeze plugs while i was in there.
  5. I live in a state where emissions isnt hard to pass. so i don't think the EGR is gonna be a big deal for me
  6. I like the Power/Comfort switch idea. The switch in power would give me fuel and in comfort could let me know knowbodys gonna steal it..unless i just told everybody...
  7. Alright noted. Not as cheaply made as they seem. Very cool idea. I was thinking of just spending the money and buying a good one since i plan on keeping the thing for a long while. I have been searching the pic a part for the past couple weeks and the XJs around here are like a bake sale after a full day of people foundling the brownies and all the good stuff is gone and all thats left are stripped bolts, snipped wires, and greasey hand printed interior i read the reviews on that one and was i think i may get something that fits a little better hahaha
  8. So...... anybody?
  9. I seen the post you did on it and looked that one up. Did the flange give you as much trouble as you thought it would? I can't find the link to that thread but if i do i will post it up
  10. I am in the process of replacing my manifold. I am not gonna weld it where its cracked am gonna buy a new one. I am working on a 89 4.0 L not worried at all about the old exhaust system, itll be replaced next thing front to back as i believe the cat is stopped up. And the muffler has a monster hole it. Sounded like a race car when i would get on it First question: Been searching around for a couple days looking through page after page of Aftermarket header and manifolds. Would love the Pacesetter Header!! http://www.quadratec.com/products/77604_701.htm?gclid=Cj0KEQjw_9-9BRCqpZeZhLeOg68BEiQAOviWAnToJbPH-5vxW46kg5PLt_olHbmCY-xh-nh__t5iPwcaAu998P8HAQ but for $233! I am gonna keep looking around. Found some good ones and then i ran across this http://teamcherokee.com/exhaust-manifold-assembly-cherokee-comanche-4-0-liter-1991-1999/ the First and sixth tube have flex joints made into them. Very cool cause this is were alot of them crack. I was Planning on doing the flex joint around the bottom near the oil pan anyways. I personally think that this thing looks cheap and is also cheaper then you can find a stock one on most sites and in parts stores... I did how ever run across this one http://www.1aauto.com/1987-90-jeep-exhaust-manifold/i/1aeem00024?f=333781&y=1989&utm_campaign=gb_csv_br&utm_content=EEM&scid=scplp1AEEM00024-333781-1989&sc_intid=1AEEM00024-333781-1989&gclid=Cj0KEQjw_9-9BRCqpZeZhLeOg68BEiQAOviWAnZjAW36YgBeYDxnpH4TpcM-DeNf6DDZ6O6kdTv65e0aArAF8P8HAQ Second question: Is a header really gonna make a difference compared to a stock manifold? If so what kind? If you guys have had any good experiences with buying a replacement manifold or a header let me know! I am open to ideas
  11. I can pull the just the blower out from below where the original pressure bottle is correct?
  12. I noticed there was coolant underneath the truck and backed it outside and could see a wet running spot on the side of the block below the freeze plug on the intake side of the block. My boss Has a couple aftermarket headers laying around from one of his cj builds and my manifold had noticeable cracks at multiple welds. and i was dying to try it before getting a new one. I am gonna try and see if one of the ones he has will work. :crossfingers: Do i need to put a bung in the header for the O2 sensor? and the tube that runs to the intake? While unbolting the intake and exhaust manifold i noticed the bolts were fairly easy to turn. Then i notice that the gasket looks new around the edges. Was thinking man i hate to screw up this gasket just to get to the freeze plug underneath it. Pulled the intake off and then i notice there was no silicone on the gasket at all! This is what the gasket looked like?! I have not tried to put the header on yet as i could not get the exhaust undone and will have to grab the saw zaw tomorrow from the shop.
  13. Okay so after finally buying a volt meter i checked the connection to the blower motor itself. IT registered 11.8 volts with the heater controls on high. I turned it to off and go 0.0 volts. So i'm leaning toward the blower motor. i did not check the resistor pack because the heat was not coming on for any setting...
  14. Those look awesome! thanks for the advice from all you guys. will keep this updated as i go
  15. That things pretty sweet man!
  16. supossedly and i look at the site for Z&M they have some as well. Z&M carries the Sherman brand as well but they are a little cheaper on rockauto.
  17. Thanks guys! Thats what i figured caused but just wanted to double check.
  18. why excatly will the harness cause the switch to burn out? Improper gauge wire?
  19. http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/jeep,1989,comanche,2.5l+150cid+l4,1181663,body,rocker+panel,1092 i found these but are they worth getting? not a bad price
  20. Would a Xj rocker fit a Mj? i know some alterations will have to be done but will they look the same? I will probably go to the pick a part or a JY and cut one out of a Xj. Any suggestions ideas on how to make this easier? Its rusted out along the full length on one of my Mjs and i have a rust hole on the other as well!! :fs1: I don't wanna take a pic my DD Mjs rust spot. I'm still in denial even though its now a fifty cent piece sized hole!!! :wall:
  21. That is a cool truck!
  22. May sound like I'm being a @$$ but have you checked all your electrical connections?
  23. So i have been tinkering around on the little truck and found this.. What the heck is that?!! After seeing this i decided that it was time to go to open cooling. I followed this thread http://comancheclub.com/topic/44535-closed-to-open-cooling-diy/ Thanks Blue88Comanche  !! I used his parts list to get what i needed and read through this and a couple others and had no trouble other then when the thremostate housing broke. one JY trip later and i was good to go. Also picked up a power steering pump while i there as mine was shot. Before after The brackets were made out of a couple old metal shelving arms Sorry for the poor picture quality the lighting is pretty terrible in my shop right now. The bottle fits very nicely though. Looks like it came like this.
