  1. Was the Las Vegas Bellagio fountains done with a timed exposure? I love playing with timed exposures at night- ends up with some neat results. Anyway, here's my modest contributions to the thread: Grand Tetons WY in 2005: Pic out the window of an Alaska Air flight in 2008 over NorCal: Cadillac Ranch near Amarillo in 2008: A 5pm and 8pm pic combined of the house, Jan 2011: Yaquina Head lighthouse, Newport OR in 2008: Sunset thru forest fire smoke at Smith Rock in Terrebonne OR; world famous rock climbing here and Rooster Cogburn with John Wayne was shot nearby:
  2. No, it has the craptastic 2.5. Still, it was manufactured in 8/86 as the one described above and is an 87MY truck #001663 (if it matters any). It has the 86-style COMANCHE lettering on the fenders, too. Perhaps late 86MY short beds were sold as 87s?
  3. Picked up the reflective tailgate lettering from him and it looks good after its first year.
  4. My 87 was built in August 86. It currently resides less than 20 miles from where it was sold new.
  5. Hey thanks for neat idea! How about wiring the rear speakers up- is it anticipated to be a pain?
  6. Put in Bosch platinum plugs and new wires from Napa on Friday evening. Runs now as smooth as a 24 year old Jeep is expected to run. Old plugs were nasty and gapped to .055. Old wires were brittle. Both plugs and wires were probably a decade or more old.
  7. I hoard MJ tail lights too. If I find an MJ in a self service yard with intact lights, they end up coming home with me. They go for some pretty nuttybonkers prices on ebay.
  8. O2 sensor... hadn't thought of that. I'll go through the easy stuff Saturday and move on to the sensor if plugs and wires don't do the trick. Stay tuned.
  9. My 87 has started and ran like a top for the past 4 years. This morning coming off a light it felt like it was bogging down and I had to feather the clutch to get it the revs up enough to smooth out and then it'd go. Every time the engine throttles down after a rev it will idle roughly and have no power- even after a shift that wasn't revved high. I had to limp it back home to park it. Now, idle is rough with both a cold and warm engine (tried it after being parked for 8 hours in 35 degree weather). Recent work in the past month: new clutch, new drive belt, new headlights, new air filter. Other misc info: no cat, new muffler less than a year ago, no blue/black/white exhaust, 4 speed, 170k. Any ideas? Throw anything out there you may think it is. I already am going to change the plugs this weekend and put a new radiator and hoses in it too (but now this happened). Really- any ideas?
  10. Doing my periodic underhood inspection and fluid topoff yesterday after changing my drive belt, I saw my radiator is leaking from the lower corner and a small pool of coolant had pooled up at the bottom of the radiator. I probably wouldn't have noticed it if it weren't for the sun at the right angle relative to how I was parked. Since I only want to do this one time instead of several times during the next few years, can anyone point me in the right direction for a quality radiator that is not going to fail in another year or two? I have done Autozone radiators in the past on other vehicles and they have a tendency to split where the plastic cap meets the aluminum core. So here's what I don't want: an uber-expensive radiator (nothing over $300), no Autozone or O'Reilly cheapos, no transmission oil cooler lines/hookups (it's a manual), and nothing that requires modification of factory-style setup (fan shroud, bulkhead, rearranging the engine bay, etc.) Links would be great for any suggested replacements for a 87 MJ with 2.5 and a 4 speed manual. No Air conditioning if it matters.
  11. Thought that may be the case. In light of that, should spacers only be put on the rear instead of all four corners, would it not screw with he geometry of the suspension? Is it better to have all four corners done at once as opposed to just the rear?... or would it be the same idea as a dually pick up- wider rear with a more narrow front (but without the extra set of tires and the drastic difference in rear width)?
  12. ^^ awesome thanks for the pics. So, is the stock width of the rear more narrow than the front? It appears the rear is not as wide as the front, unless its a trick of the eye with the body... Any thoughts?
  13. Been through it and ended in divorce after 13 years. Hopefully yours will turn out differently and you'll be able to save it. We tried books, counseling, even going on 'dates' to start fresh. The problem was we knew how to push each others' buttons without intentionally doing it, and every day was a battle in the trenches. The ones who suffered the most were my kids, as they now have to bounce from house to house for parenting time with joint custody. Sometimes its not meant to work, but sometimes depite the rocky road it is. Chin up. You two will work it out. For the divorced CC members: Why are divorces so expensive? Because they're worth it! http://instantrimshot.com/
  14. Washed it! Hooray for crappy cell phone pics!!! Almost 55 today and sunny, so it was perfect January weather to do it. Washed the Escape, too. And hosed down the driveway to get all the cinder off it.
  15. So, with all this wheel spacer talk, who has an image of a 'before & after' of the wheel spacers on their rig?... just so I can see how much of a difference it makes. Mudflap laws are big around here, after all.
  16. Remember, it takes two to tango. Both parties can be responsible for birth control, not just the guy. There's all sorts of other products on the market, not just pills, that women can use. Unless she's a baby factory she needs to do her part as well.
  17. How thick/heavy is the Line-X in the pic above?
  18. That would make her more tolerable than with her curly shoulder length brown hair. She's 8 1/2 months knocked up (not by me, thanks), acne ridden, uncouth, bitchy, no manners, cusses a lot, and has a very loud voice... no volume control with her on top of everything else. I can't wait til she's gone.
  19. Jeeeeeeeeeze roommates. The scourge of the healthy house. My better half's 19 yr old neice is with us for a few weeks and she leaves a trail of debris and destruction wherever she goes. Avocado pit in the disposal, scored the glasstop stove with a new steak knife, dishes left around, cigarette butts outside the ashtray on the back porch blowing around, overflowed the coffeemaker by putting too much ground coffee in, uses up all the hot water for a shower, soda cans laying around everywhere, doesn't put up the wii games or dvds so they get all scratched up, leaves lights on and the heat turned up... the list goes on and on. Rawrr!!!!! :fs1: Thankfully she's leaving in a week... either by free will or force, she's leaving.
  20. I've got a spare shift boot from my 87. It's stiff but intact. Rectangular clip to secure bottom of boot to console is broken, however. PM me and I can send it to you if you desire.
  21. On my 87 MJ: 91 XJ steering column 85 XJ glove box door 92 XJ seat belts 90 XJ aluminum wheels late 90s Cadillac Sedan DeVille muffler
  22. New clutch, new slave cylinder, gear oil changed to synthetic, and having flywheel resurfaced. bah! $$$! This is going to cost me as much as the purchase price of the truck. I'd do it myself but no time and its gotta get back on the road.
  23. So, what's the deal with the upside-down grilles? I see it all the time. Does it signify anything other than "gee, we can't put the grille in right."?
  24. Put new Oregon 'Pacific Wonderland' license plates on it this afternoon.
  25. 3.26 for regular at local Chevron. State gas taxes went up a dime on the 1st to pay for roadwork.
