8.25 E - brake issue (disc swap)
dunnc1991 replied to ftpiercecracker1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I know this thread is a little old, but had a question on the e-brake cables. Will the stock ZJ passenger cable work on either bed length, or do I need longer cables for my long bed. Been searching, but haven't found an answer for this.- 16 replies

I've ran both setups, so I have first hand experience. My 92 with short arms rode like garbage. The op stated he'd be using it 90% on road. My suggestion would be at least drop brackets to return it to somewhat stock angles for ride quality.

Depends on how much you'd want to trim your sheet metal. Your best bet will be spring over axle in the rear and matching it in the front. This would give approx. 5.5" of lift give or take. This will require control arm drop brackets or long arms as I feel that's too high of a lift to run short arms. Lots of threads about this if you do a search.

Also a good point if you decide to that route. Try http://car-part.com/ to look for an axle.

SWB Rollbar NW DC... $700
dunnc1991 replied to Bonkers's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
May be going to look at it tomorrow. Don't have room or a need for it, so have to see what happens. -
I agree with you 100% that the interstate is an extremely dangerous place. However, I highly doubt the OP got hit, and instantly hopped out to take pictures of the damage with traffic flying by. I work for a fire dept. that has an extremely seat section of I81 run right next to the city. I've run my share of interstate wrecks. I would have to guess these photos were taken after the accident occured, buffer zone created, and traffic was traveling considerably slower. You're comment was unnecessary to the thread so I figured I'd let you know....

Is this a serious comment?

SWB Rollbar NW DC... $700
dunnc1991 replied to Bonkers's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Yea, I was gonna add that. It's about an hour or so west of DC out I66. Only a short run for me. Still haven't heard anything... -
What's your plans? There are better, cheaper, and more common options out there to choose from for a rear axle. Looks like a good start though.

Haven't heard anything either. Typical craigslist. -
So finally got some sunshine today, but I feel like garbage. The only progress I made was taking these pictures. The D30 in place, still need a new track bar and will probably upgrade the steering as well. RE drop brackets. New backing plate sort of in place. Still need to modify it a little bit. Need to make a junkyard run in the near future. Have some little odds and ends to grab, and will most likely grab a new style valve cover to hopefully cure some of my oily motor issues.

Just contacted him. About 30 minutes from me. Might have to grab this one up. -
Still need to get some pics up. Got it running g decent again. Started on the disc swap, but need to modify one of the mounting holes for the backing plate to fit correctly. Hoping to get a break in the rain and get some work done today.

Need help with brush guard
dunnc1991 replied to Fattyalx's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Was directed towards the OP, but I'd believe it. Deer hits are no joke. I've heard a few times of arb equppied vehicles sustaining pretty good damage from taking a hit. -

Need help with brush guard
dunnc1991 replied to Fattyalx's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
not necesarily. It depends how fast you're going, had an 06 dakota, hit a deer with a brush guard and all that happened was it bent the headlight part of the guard and cracked the headlight. Depends the conditions. So how fast were you going? -
So is all I need the ring and pinion and then a master install kit? Are you planning to install the gears yourself?
