Axle and Ubolt pics.
outlaw star replied to outlaw star's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
We don't want just a "cut and paste" type of "He said, she said". We want real, actual, physical pics of measurements as well. -
Ok CC, we need your help on a tech project a friend and I are working on. We need pics and measurement of The AMC 20, D44 and D35 axles tubes and Ubolts. Also please state year, model axle and wether or not you have Trac- Loc or Open carrier as well. Thank You.

I've rebuilt quite a few AX- 4, AX- 5, AX- 15 and BA10/5's. For you, that's not a bad start. I'd order the synchronizer keys and springs while you're at it. You are going to need a press as well.

Lantana here (S End of Lake Worth). Theres only been three of us that get together around here so you're more than welcome to join us. We are having a big Jeep night next month at Tilted Kilt in Boca on the 21st, please stop by. JeepsOlot lives in Stuart, 88whitecomanche in Miami and our friend Ryan in Palm Beach Gardens. (He doesnt do the forum thing. Lol) According to my friends that live by 5A, a good majority of it has been shut down for development.

My cable was without cruise control, just one solid cable.Mine has cruise but the cable runs from tcase straight to the dashSo you need one for With Cruise? If so, i have the Crown part numbers for those. Morris 4x4 keeps all that stuff in stock.

I don't use anyone's calculator. I made my own spreadsheet, using actual revolutions-per-mile data from the tire manufacturers. With all (un)due modesty, I think it's the most accurate RPM to speed chart available. There's a sticky post somewhere here with a link to it on-line. I'd like to check that out actually, if you can find a link. Thanks.

Renix stroker engine idea.
outlaw star replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Built a 4.9L stroker in my old 86Xj. Everything was Renix with no issues. I did however have a bored throttle body and Ford 5.4L injectors in it. Nothing wrong with running a Renix system if you take care of it and do proper maintenance. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk -
31's on 4" lift. How does it look.
outlaw star replied to Baby blue's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
4.5" RE coils in front, 5" SUA leaf pack in back on 31" tires. -
Theres a guy with a silver SWB 4x4 on 22's that keeps offering to buy mine. Hell no if it ends up like that other ghetto blaster. Lol Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk

That's great news then.

I'm going to side with the majority in saying, there had to be a mixup somewhere to where you got the wrong springs. I had Deaver make my 5" SUA packs and only got an extra 1.5". Was told after use and loads, they would settle to around 5", which they have. No longer shackle was needed at all. If i was you, i would just call them and send your pics via email to them to back up your claim. If they have any pride or care in their work, I'm sure they will fix this for you.

I put a YJ Wrangler cable on mine. Both ends plugged in including the firewall grommet. Only thing was its about 1.5' longer than my original one. I pulled the excess back into the tunnel and secured it. I don't have cruise control, just my foot. Sent from my LGLS770 using Tapatalk

31" tires and 4.10 gears should only turn 3020 RPM at 65 MPH with an AX-4. Tell us more about this 2.5L stroker. I'd be very interested in a stroked 4-cylinder but, unlike the 4.0L, there aren't any other versions of the engine around that had different displacements and cranks with longer throws. How did you stroke it? Message sent. If you're using the grimmjeeper calculator, he openly admits that it will be plus or minus due to different variables such as tire manufactures advertised size are not exactly true, same goes for ring and pinions (some 4.10's are actually 4.11, etc..)

I have a stroked 2.5L (3.0L) with the AX-4, 4.10 D44 and 31" tires. My rpms at 65 are 3500-3600. Sent from my LGLS770 using Tapatalk

Nothing wrong with the 4 cyls at all. Not everyone needs to be able to roast tires in 1st.

tires, gears and gas mileage question
outlaw star replied to mikekaz1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
With XJs, it's a combination of a few things I think, 1) They don't have the correct speedo gear for gear and tire size 2) Its slightly heavier vehicle 3) As you said, lead foot. -
tires, gears and gas mileage question
outlaw star replied to mikekaz1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
1987 SWB 2wd, 3.0L stroker (2.5L) AX4 transmission, had 3.55 open D35 on 31x10.50's. At 65-70mph was turning 3200 rpms and averaging 20mpg hwy. Have recently swapped to a D44 LSD 4.10, still testing. Sent from my LGLS770 using Tapatalk
