Trust me, if you post a link directing someone here so they can read and get more than their answer, they will still ask the same question again. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk -

There are a lot of people who don't use or join forums but are comfortable with fb groups/pages. If a few of you set up and Admin the page there, you would see an increase in member traffic while also allowing you to help a broader range of members. -
Hey stalker..I mean buddy. Lol. There's a few of us here that you'll recognize. Not a lot of us post though. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk

Especially at VA facilities. I'm a vet, but damned if I'll ever set foot in one nowadays. Hope you'll be okay Eagle. :cheers:Then you've heard the VA joke before?"The VA, giving vets a second chance to die for their country." Yes I have, sad but true. But to be fair to the VA, one of the most popular federal budget cuts by the current and recent crop of leadership has been to hack and slash their budget. No longer can they attract the top medical personnel and administrators. Thus their caseload is now overwhelming and way back loaded due to incompetent leadership and understaffing. And I don't see any relief on the horizon for our vets. It sucks. Sorry for the rant - no need for comments - I'm off topic... As long as Eagle gets good care he needs, we'll be fine with it.

Was just curious myself as well. Didn't think the "purist police" would throw so much hate at it. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk -

Conclusion: It's in, it runs its fine. I'm not into "period correct" or anything "ooh..ahhh" so as long as it doesn't break (very small chance of that), I'm good. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk -

Now GM had a D44 rear axle as well. Might be that someone swapped it over? Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk -

Ok, not arguing over this crap anymore. Here's your damn mic pics. All i asked was a simple question of "IF" there was a bigger than 2.75" D44. YES, yes there was. here's some more info I've found as well. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk -
What engine do you plan to mate it to? I searched from Jupiter to Miami and couldnt find one for under 800. I found one for a Wrangler with 4.0L but it was all the way in Apopka Fl for 550. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk

Not here to argue over what came in what year. Just trying to make sense of why they're a 1/4" larger than all the specs i can find. You could chalk maybe one of the two to not being OE, but Two from ALMOST identical platforms. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk -

It came out of the 86 LWB that JeepsOlot had. Honestly no clue if it was original or not. -

I guess i just have to take it for what it is. Atleast we have some assurance that we're not crazy because of everything saying it should be 2.75". Thanks -

These are the bolts i had to use for both the Tracloc housings. -

See, thats the weird thing that i stated, it should be but both the Traclocs i have are at 3"?, when it's supposed to be less? As far as i know, both axles are OE. One is 1986 MJ D44 LSD and the other is 1987 XJ D44 LSD. I have an open carrier MJ, not sure of year it came out of, D44 that measures exactly as the specs say it should. So, I've kinda been scratching my head at this oddity. Then again, we all know the two common jokes for AMC right? All Makes Car and Abortion Motor Company. Lol -

Now here's the question that sparked the debate/inquiry between my buddy and I. All the D44 references he has states it should be a 2.75" housing. Now all but one of my D44's are Tracloc. The open carrier D44 mic at 2.75" while both the Tracloc D44's mic at 3". This had us curious as to "Is there a difference between the Tracloc housings compared to open ones? I know it sounds weird but thats why we are looking for actual pic measurements of all housings instead of just a typed response. Our initial plan is to compile all our pics and findings after to accompany the older typed reports/findings. -

Yeah, i should have clarified that before hand. Sorry. But yes, your post can be of good use for a reference. Thank you. -

IE: here's a 1987 open carrier, D35 ubolt compared to a 1986 Tracloc, D44 ubolt.
