  1. Congrats and very nice MJ!
  2. Any particular reason you want to keep the 4-speed? It would seem to me that finding a 4wd AX4 transmission might be a little harder than finding an AX5 - to wit, if you're going with a 5-speed, you may as well go with the AX15 and never have to worry about it ever again. AX4=AX5 with no overdrive. Here's some more info about the AX-series transmissions to give you a little more info: http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/transmissions/manual/ax5 I personally would recommend finding a wrecked XJ - between 92-99 - with an ax15 and swap in the tranny, transfer case, front axle and driveshafts into your Jeep. Speaking from experience, that's the easiest way to do a conversion is to actually have a donor vehicle so that, in the event you need anything else to complete the swap, you have it right there on the vehicle you took it from.
  3. Also, in case anyone is interested in a visual aid, this is a picture I took and made notes on (gotta love the Note 3) after using a multi-meter to figure out what wire did what. This is on my '92, btw.
  4. Yeah, it was pretty straight forward to replace the plugs once I had my head wrapped around the layout. Having a matched plug would help too (I had to move some pins as mine came from two different vehicles). It also helps get rid of the problematic, corrosion filled stock plug. Looks good. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk Yeah, that is one thing I cringed at when I pulled the harness off. I cleaned it out real good an put some dielectric grease on the contacts while I was in there. I definitely PREFER the newer wiring of the 97+, but I didn't have the other end of it to be able to replace both sides of the harness. So I just short-cutted it. Sometimes you just can't avoid it, I guess...
  5. Dadgummit... I wish I would have seen this post before I did this: Oh well... it worked anyway. In reality, it was actually easier to just splice the two 97+ sockets into the old harness.
  6. Thanks for the welcomes! Haha! Yup! Figures I'd venture over here some time, eh? Not too shabby... I was admiring this one on CL the other day: http://ocala.craigslist.org/cto/5676742980.html There ya go! Nice. I like the buckets. lol... ya caught me! Thanks for the recommendation. Seems like there's some good folks over here.
  7. You sure look awful familiar!
  8. Evening, ladies n gents. No, I don't have an MJ... I am a huge fan though. I'd love to have a 4cyl, 5spd, 2wd to have as a DD. I do have an XJ though. Started its life out as a 2wd grocery getter. It was owned by a family here in Florida, passed down to the kids for their vehicle (from what I can tell via title info), and sold to the guy I bought it from. Since I've gotten it, I've converted it to 4wd, lifted it, and converted the front clip to a 1998. I've got a build thread over on CherokeeForum.com - http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f46/welp-here-goes-project-slow-n-steady-178780/if anyone's really interested in the boring details. Basically, it started as this: And now looks like this: Anyway, there's a lot of useful things that you MJers do that we can apply to XJs, and vice-versa, so on recommendation from a friend ('sup, Lee) I joined up (I'm already spying at Alexia's MJ Build thread). Cheers. -Justin
