  1. Its also good to consider the 5.9l will still be running when the 4.7l is sitting in the scrap pile.

Nice, 83 was the first year for the 5 speed as well. Not as rare as my turbo cars but its a good one as far as EXPs go. Too bad its an EXP and not an LN7.

That one is an 85 turbo. I also have an 84 turbo and an 88.5 LC, I had an 87 SC as well but I sold it. Mechanically yours is pretty close to an 81 to early 85 Escort but nothing really interchanges as far as body parts, the 86-88.5 Escort EXPs share more with the Escort but even those basically only share the front clip. Nice thing with your 83 is it has the same 1.6l CVH as the euro Escort MK3 so there is a lot of aftermarket for it still. 83 is also the first year of fuel injection so if yours has injection it will be a little more desirable if you do end up selling it.
  4. 91-95 is OBD1, 96 is OBD2

If you use facebook go here. https://www.facebook.com/groups/351634211536595/ It tends to be more active then the web site.

    I have three of them.
  7. This. Even if you paid a shop to do it you would save money over buying new flairs.
  8. It takes about 6.5" to make the truck sit level.
  9. Might be a base for a wheeler but not for $1000
  10. That kit is ok but its a lot more then $500 dollars once you add the missing pieces. At a minimum your gonna want to add adjustable control arms and/or control arm drop brackets, you may also want to add front brake lines and sway bar dissconects.
  11. Whatever you do make sure you do some research on lithium cells so you don't kill yourself playing with them.
  12. 2.5l will pull pretty good, traction is a bigger issue then power. I've yarded several full size trucks out of mud and snow with my 2.5l MJ. I have also pulled out a forklift that was stuck in mud past its axles.
  13. There was a bunch of crap like that at NWfest this year. I don't want to spend money to win coupons to spend more money.
  14. Thats awesome, did they ever get you your trophy for last year? My buddy decided to get married on the same day as the show so I didn't get to make it this year, I guess I will have to shoot for next year.
  15. How about the metric ton 2.5l MJs? More power then a 22r, roughly the same MPG, just as reliable.
  16. Not very good pics but this was the parts car, it had been hit in the rear and some one had used it as a drivetrain donor. I don't remember what the seats looked like but the interior parts that i kept are brown, it also had the stock 5lug 13" wheels on it. Looking back i should have kept it and fixed it, it had way less rust then the one I'm building
  17. Where abouts in Oregon are you?
  18. Any vehicle between 5 and 25 years old needs testing. Depending on where your gonna be in Washington you may not have to worry about it, only a few counties do testing.
  19. Got some time to work on the Falcon this weekend. I cut the rust out of the drivers side rear inner fender /wheel well area and made patch panels to rebuild it. Hopefully I can get the rear quarter panel patched up soon, I've already made a new section of quarter panel for it but I've had to wait till I finished getting rid of all the rot that was behind it.
  20. You might want to move the winch over a little to get it away from the steering box. The box does move around a little when you steer especially when your offroad. You don't want the steer box to wear a hole in your winch. My winch is actually tucked in a bit further then yours, I had to offset the winch to the passenger side a little to get it away from the steering box. You should also consider extending your bumper mounts back enough to include the steering box bolts, the stress on the frame from the steering box can cause the frame to crack in that area.
  21. I looked at fan controllers when I did mine, they all get mixed reviews and a lot of complaints of failures. That's why I went the route I did, $10 thermal switch and a couple std relays, the whole set up was under $20 and IMO far more reliable then the controllers. Also in the event that I have an issue any parts store will have the parts to fix it on the shelf.
  22. When I did mine i got a TS155 temp switch which turns on around 212º and off around 192º,I welded a bung into a piece of pipe then put it in line on the upper radiator hose. I just wired the switch to a relay for each fan and I was done.
  23. Lookin good. You set your winch up a lot like mine except I put the control box under the hood and run the winch off a wireless remote.
  24. They do help with flex quite a bit. Problem with flex on a short arm is that the arms are already nearly maxxed out on down travel,by leveling the control arms you are adding a ton of room for down travel.
