I was digging through old pics and came across these,it was a car that came into the shop i was working at about 10 years ago. Check out the intake,it made of PCV pipe, dairyqueen cups and resperator cartridges. you also may notice the MAF is missing. It drove in like that

how small is your quad? I'm not sure mine will fit without a roll bar. I wonder if you would be better off with a headache rack that way you won't lose bed space.

there is good money in it if you play the game right.

The auction doesn't scrap it. It isn't theirs to scrap. The dealer/owner scraps it, because he doesn't want to be bother repairing it. I have been to auctions where there's a corner for non-running vehicles. I have never herd of a vehicle that won't start and can't be driven through the lane described as "drivable." the dealer/owners usually run them through and the wholesalers buy them. I used to work for a company that pretty much only bought non running cars from dealer auctions.they would bring them to the shop we would repair them and they would drive them through the auction the next week selling them to the larger dealerships for more money. They had no car lot and sold nothing to the public. there are also alot of places that do the same thing with wrecked cars but they usually get them at insurance auctions. Like this jeep we are talking about, someone will buy it repair it for next to nothing then you will find it on a lot at full retail.

Electrical prob, stumping pro. UPDATE: FIXED!!

those grounds should work alot better then the factory ones. glad you figured it out  -
Damage doesnt look that bad. I have bought about 30 cars at "real auctions" and have worked for auto wholesalers who deal in auction cars,I have also had friends and relatives that have worked at car auctions. Every auction house runs things different, its common to push a car across the line. Some auctions if it starts at all it runs and if it will move forward and back a few inches it drives. Ive never been to any auction that scrapped a car because it didnt run.

I worked for a fire dept years ago that had a jeep kinda like that. It was for performing rescues in places the big 6 wheel drive engine couldnt go which wasnt too many places. It pretty much lived in a cargo container out back,we pulled it out every once in a while and fired it up just in case it was ever needed.

don't know if you have a schematic but are there any junctions in the harness near where you were working? sometimes the factory will solder a bunch of POS(+) or NEG(-) together in the harness,Ive seen these get corroded over time or break loose and cause problems like your having. Its possible you may have disturbed something further down the harness -
nobody would buy a Renualt so Nissan put Versa badges on it. It like a modern Le car  I wouldnt worry about which battery, most of them come from the same factory and just get different stickers.

grounding a constant hot would be blowing fuses or melting wires. my nieghbor came to me the other day saying his XJ was running bad and doing weird things, he also said his transmission was going out. a few days earlier his old crusty battery cables had shorted together and melted the chassis ground strap,i replaced it and everything has been fine since. he had battery neg (-) to engine block and a strap from the engine to chassis and that was it,with the strap burned he had no continuity from the battery to chassis making everything go hay wire. I guess poor grounding is just part of our wonderful Jeep electrical system,I would also check the grounds and think about adding some extra grounds -
He keeps talking about wanting to shoot a turkey. Hes got some more work to do before going hunting,he shoots pretty good but he needs to get his draw wieght up. currently he is pulling about 20lbs which isnt bad for a 6 year old but needs to be higher to hunt.

Yes......another lift question...

Ive had brakes fail on old school single curcuit systems and it sucks to have to stop with the park brake. we have dual curcuit systems so if a line did break you can still stop on the other axle. There is nothing wrong with changing the hoses its good advice, but if everything is in good shape moving the hard line is another option. If my brake system was so nasty that i would not touch the lines for fear of breaking them i would also change the hard lines. -
3 Bucket seats across, in the MJ cab?!?
mnkyboy replied to jpnjim's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I drive 3 across all the time, i recently did a 2.5hr roadtrip with my sister and her friend. that was a little cramped but not too bad. usually my 6yr old is in the middle, without the booster it works great but its real tight with the booster. ive never wheeled with 3 across so i don't know how well that would work. my truck is probably a little worse then most though, its a stick so i need shifting room plus it doesnt have power steering so i need a little extra space to steer -

I have 97 dodge dakota seats in mine,It has two buckets then a large armrest/storage compartment that folds into a 3rd seat so its kinda like having 3 buckets. Its nice to have the extra seat even though it is cramped with 3 people. -
I took my son to the archery range yesterday to get in some practice. he shoots pretty good for 6 but after this round i had to get a picture.

my point is the stock hoses will work. I could see your point if you were making a major bend but basically your just pulling the line down a little, they would have to be in pretty bad shape to break one which in that case you would want to replace them anyway. here you can see the old holes and the bracket after dropping it. -
its gonna suck for the guy that has to clean that up

You don't have to get brake lines for the front, they should be lots of room in the hard line to relocate them. just unbolt the brake line and pull it down some then reattach the mounting tabs lower. with 5" of lift my stock brake lines are fine even when flexing. you probably will need to replace the rear line though -
What if you put the spacers up front and go SOA in back? Your gonna need an adj trac bar if you don't already have one,and eventually your gonna want new control arms

My father has a big bear,i think its even about the same year as yours. He uses it for search and rescue and loves it,Its not fast but it can get into places the bigger quads can't.

:agree: for 86-90 MJs you need a cluster from a 90 and earlier XJ/MJ for 91/92 you need 91+ guages. easy way to make sure is early ones have a speedo cable and later ones don't so if yours has a cable make sure you get one that takes a cable,if it has a plug make sure you get one with the plug.
