  1. This is TOO trick. Are those lines I see string, or are they overlaid on the pic?
  2. Since when is the 4.0 a Ford engine? It's an AMC design based on the old 232...
  3. Nice treads! How would you compare them to the KO's?
  4. A whole lot less than going out and buying a new truck that I would probably have no lovr for and wouldn't havr half the character my MJ has.
  5. Thanks for the kind words, Buck. :)
  6. propane conversion? i'd rather pay the price of gas, but a 4wd swap is coming once i have the funds for it and another daily driver i'll do everything i want to do to it, 4.0 or 4.2 swap, and 4wd convertion Redwolf Propane, in my mind, isn't about gas prices. It's an easy way to get an old school engine to run similarly to an fuel injected one without having to attach much, if any electronics to it. As far as a 4.0 swap, the 4.0 is a fantastic engine if it came in your rig, but I wouldn't swap one into a vehicle when there are so many other engines available that are lighter and are easier to fit into an enfine bay than the long, tall 4.0.
  7. Your truck is gorgeous, Buck! Thanks for sharing it.
  8. Nice! Kudos on getting that 2.5 back into action. Can't wait to see what you do next.
  9. I dig this truck. As far as the spacers, they look just like my Spidertrax units except for thr lack of anodizing. Time will tell whether they're good or not, I guess. I personally wouldn't ditch this MJ, though. If it were me, I'd do a 4wd conversion, slap in a fresh 3.4, and throw some kind of aftermarket EFI or propane conversion on it to make the wiring easy.
  10. How'd you run the license plate lights?
  11. Oh, and if I have to do a lot of stop and go driving, my mileage SINKS. I have to be very aggressive in city driving in my area. People will run over you otherwise!
  12. I usually do about 60mph on the highway with my 4 speed 2.5 on 31" AT/KO's and I get between 23-25mpg depending on how hilly the terrain is. I pump 87 octane with a claimed 10% ethanol mix and I monitor my speed via GPS.

    so whadja get?

Gen 3 G21 and a butt-ton of ammo to break it in with.
  15. Nice. Thanks for the heads-up. Do you know of anyone who makes the rear liners? I ripped one of mine off lately. :-/
  16. It keeps our tin rust free...but drivers around here flip out whenever there's the slightest bit of precipitation. Double edged sword, my friend.
  17. You can find that set up in MJ's and XJ's.
  18. That's a very nice design, but I'm afraid my fab skills arent up to the task. I like that Allpro is selling something similar to it in "just add water" form. I don't know how much it would have to be modified to fit a MJ, though.
  19. While looking around the 'net, I came across Allpro Offroad's website ( I have a soft spot for most things Toyota). While browsing their stuff, I came across this: https://www.allprooffroad.com/pickuptrailarmor/pickupflatbedkit Apparently, they make a flatbed kit (a nice one, too) for Yota pickups. I know some of use here wheel the snot out of MJ's, and might like the idea, which combines a flatbed with a pretty neat looking roll bar arrangement. If my MJ was a dedicated trail toy, I'd be tempted to...*cough* take inspiration *cough* from their design.
  20. I wonder how exactly Edelbrok improved the combustion chamber. From what I've read, the 4.0HO head flows pretty well as long as you keep the velocity up. If you hog out the ports and go with huge valves, you don't gain a whole lot, hence my comment about forced induction.
  21. I got a buddy who has about that output with 505 Performance goodies in his 4.7L stroker. I have about 220-230 out of my poor man's stroker build. I'm hoping for 250-255 with a new cam and some head work.
  22. Pipe carries stuff, TUBE keeps things from bending. Use tube.
  23. Magnaflow makes some pretty big cans, you just have to look through ther catalog. In my MJ, I have a 2.5" diameter set up with an 18" Magnaflow glasspack feeding an 18" Turbo style muffler.
  24. Unless you're going forced induction, I don't see this making a whole lot more power than a properly worked over stock head.
