  1. So after owning my truck for 5.5 years, I'm finally going to start accumulating some parts to restore my 91 Comanche. The front fenders both need body work but surprisingly aren't really rusty. I am thinking of buying some cheap Chinese aftermarket fenders from RockAuto. Does anyone here have experience with them? Do they fit OK or not? I know a lot of cheap Chinese parts don't fit so well or take more labor in fitting them right compared to OEM stuff.
  2. Any update on the truck? I still want to buy your truck instantly right now if you find you no longer like it
  3. I basically haven't driven my truck in a year and I still have the new belt in the package, so yeah haven't done a thing in 4 years LOL...
  4. Thanks for the info, I recently picked up Comanche #4 and it’s missing these sockets.
  5. I think it would look more "normal" if it wasn't so dark, the area you painted. I've never seen an actual black turbine wheel in real life, I've only ever seen them in promo/original pics. Did they actually ever paint them black for production? Black accents on a white truck don't look good if you overdo the black bits.
  6. LOL. I'm in Saskatchewan, it got down to -40C a couple nights ago and it's been frickin' cold. So yesterday it was only -29C and it felt WARM!! I know what you mean.
  7. Turbines go better with the chrome front end. I like your video style but I didn't sub because I didn't want to watch all the other stuff. I'll stay tuned in the thread here.
  8. Or you could find a close color match interior dye such as https://amzn.to/2FToHf8
  9. p.s. stay in school, your grammar is incredible!
  10. Don't worry about it for a month. I've had my truck for 4 years and have spots I didn't do anything with. Yes the rust got worse. I plan on de-rusting and painting the truck this year (resto).
  11. Both supposedly came from XJs so as-is you think either will be fine? I need to change my driveshaft anyway going from 2WD so I can find the right yoke.
  12. I also found a NP242 out of a 99 XJ for sale. Will a 99 work as well?
  13. I have a 91 4.0 AW4 2WD MJ but I want to convert it to 4WD (full time) and AX15 manual. Will this transfer case work? It's a 242 with 23 splines. I dunno if it's a long, short, or medium shaft. I do not yet have the transmission, I'm parts shopping now though. The sellers description: "I have a Jeep-XJ , NP 242 j Transfer case ,tag has build date of -8 -30- 95 , assy.no -5209-8384 and has 2 wire select position sensor ,23 spline input and exposed style output shaft , is good upgrade from NP231 or NP249"
  14. This guy is your friend if you are a home owner: https://www.youtube.com/houseimprovements
  15. Satin black Rustoleum https://amzn.to/2RCf6P8 or similar
  16. I hate thick wallets. I've tried a half dozen slim wallets, I've settled on this one. I like the color because I won't leave it when I leave if I happen to set it down somewhere. It's a bonus that it matches my Comanche.
  17. You need to trim slightly. Click the link in the second post in this thread for details.
  18. There is this note attached to that auction: Strange!
  19. I have them in my truck, they're great. But, Euramtec is out of business.
  20. Reinforce for what purpose? Rust holes? Additional cargo capacity?
  21. "asking for a friend". LOL yeah right. Tell me English is not your first language...
  22. Your truck is amazing, you have inspired me to restore my truck now
  23. I saw that. It's something someone made up, I did that, I have a thread floating around here on something similar.
  24. Man Ladas must be especially tough, must be crazy hard to find parts. At least Jeep parts are cheap and plentiful.
  25. Well even if it heads to the crusher one day, I can sleep at night knowing I did what I could to save it. The only problem with hanging onto it while I fix it up is I don't have space for it, and I estimated I'd need to drop $2K into it to fix it up (it would have needed floor boards too and I don't know what all else). I bought 2 other vehicles this year too and am storing cars at friends places, my vehicle situation is out of control at the moment. In the end I got what I paid for the truck earlier this year, so I'm only out about $300 in work that I had done to it. Not including insurance and gas obviously. If it had less rust and it wasn't hailed on I would have hung onto it for a lot longer. When I saw this Lada on Kijiji I thought of you, it's maybe even cooler than yours. Personally I like Ladas but that's because I've never owned one ha ha... http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/regina/1992-lada-niva-pickup-truck/1209379384
