I took mine apart and there was a loose wiring "pin". I re-soldered it and it's good now. FYI. This is after I removed the old solder and was about to put new solder on:

What a useless thread title.... that's certainly not helping anyone find this thread when searching... Anyway, my 89 has this issue and I need to pass an inspection so I think I need to fix it. Have you guys tried epoxying- JB welding the thing back together? I realize it functionally doesn't really do much but I want to fix mine before I take it for an inspection just so it's one less thing to be concerned about. I'm thinking of removing it, clamping in a vice, and epoxying it back together while the spring is compressed. Thoughts? Mine is broken the exact same way, no cruise control.

Mine is not working correctly on my 89 also. Do you have the skills to take the module apart and solder connections? There are lots of videos on YouTube on DIY fixing them. I just took mine out and I plan on taking it apart first to at least take a look.

So um yeah after having my current 91 for 8+ years I bought another one. This one is basically done though, repainted, no rust etc. I will post some pics later. Do I have a problem? LOL hey at least I just had the 91 all this time, the others I sold as I "traded up". I'm not sure if I will keep both or dump my 91. Once Comanches are gone they're usually gone. I realized that I don't have the skillset or motivation to actually finish my 91 in a timely manner ha ha. This one is an 89 Eliminator RWD. Looks like new though, from down south. Just needs some minor repairs and finishing touches and it'll be my keeper forever.

You can tack weld the screws/bolts in place, I did. Just don't go hog wild, just tacks.

91 Eliminator 83K miles refresh with NOS parts
91Pioneer replied to Red Mistress's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
It seems like a guy could not worry about upgrading the headlight harness if they put in a pair of Retrobright lights. Do we know the amp/watts draw difference between the two? I have not done the harness upgrade on my truck because I simply haven't driven it much in the last 3 years but I'm laser focused on getting it done this summer, it will be back on the road. -
91 Eliminator 83K miles refresh with NOS parts
91Pioneer replied to Red Mistress's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Those look nice, close to OEM except they are like 6000K or something. What is the beam pattern like? I hate people who put in aftermarket lights that blind everyone in oncoming traffic so that is my top concern, I wouldn't do that. -
Wow I've had my truck for 7.5 years now. I really should have updated this thread a bit more often. Currently have done almost nothing the last couple of years but I'm trying to get it 100% restored like showroom fresh, but I will use the Eliminator decals instead of Pioneer. Lately I'm just accumulating parts and stuff. I found some NOS parts like an outside driver door handle, brake pedal pad, etc. Could definitely use a few more parts yet... Here's the latest video I have on it if you're interested and it's from 2 years ago EEK!...

Wow judging by the amount of flat black along the entire bottom of the MJ I'm gonna go ahead and say there's some bondo holding it together over the rust holes. Ludicrous.

I have an NOS driver side tail light for my 91 restoration but I need a passenger side one. If you have one that is NOS or close to it let me know. Thanks.

Source for brake pedal pad (91 Auto)
91Pioneer replied to 91Pioneer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks so much!! I'm restoring my truck so it's just a little at a time right now. I see there is an aftermarket version as well FYI in case future people are looking (it's made by Crown) same part #. -
I was looking on RockAuto and you can buy a manual trans brake pedal pad but they don't list an automatic transmission brake pedal pad. Does anyone know where I can source one? Ideally I want to buy a brand new one since I'm restoring my truck but I suppose a very top condition used one would be OK too.
