I utilized XJ frame stiffeners, only front stiffeners will fit the MJ due to cab stiffeners. The rest of the unibody/uniframe i utilized 3/16 or 1/4" plate i can't remember.

More Power Form Renix 87 And 88
MJam86 replied to cruiser54's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
In a lot of the crappy places I was at when younger you couldn't afford to be a beer snob. There were only two beers, hot and cold. So I'm not particular anymore. If I had to pick a favorite it would be Tiger Beer, brewed in Singapore. Anyone ever try it?Yes...it tastes horrible. Most people compare it to formaldehyde. Yes, but you have to eat rancid raw fish with it to taste right. It's a acquired taste. You must like Bud Lime too, like Cruiser. No, my favorite is Primo. But i like others as well. I don't see the point in lime flavored beers. Id think adding a lime to it accomplishes the same thing and probably tastes better. -

Lol, I imagine shipping from cali to I believe you were in Florida would be more than the cost to build it or have it built locally. This was maybe $150-$200 in steel.

Yes! It's a home brewed bumper. Shipping wouldn't be worth it, sorry.

Thanks guys! Still a work in progress. Here's some plating and front bumper shots.

Started work on plating the unibody/unframe and making my bumpers. I'm going to do some led taillights next. My stock ones are nasty.

AW4 Fluid and shifting issues
MJam86 replied to onlyinajeep726's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
What's the coolant look like? When running your transmission pressure is higher than any pressure from your coolant system, so the leak should be more fluid into coolant than coolant into fluid. I recommend change radiator and flush tranny. If it still acts weird pull your ecm fuse and see how it drives like that. It could be your solenoids weren't getting proper lubrication or are bad. If you pull the fuse you have to manually shift. You can't really manually shift with fuse still in, there is still electricity being applied shifting like that, is the best way I can put it. -
I love the negative comments on here... My opinion on rear bumper is I'd prefer to have tire in middle or offset to the passenger side. IDK about you LWB folks but for short wheel base the gas tank is on driver side I have about a 1" lean with a full tank and maybe 1/2" with a less than quarter tank. Something to counter balance the weight of gas and my 200 lbs in the driver seat would be nice.

MJ Renix to HO Oil Filter Adapter & O-ring Data
MJam86 replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Don't go to O'Reilly they have a package and only 1 or 2 fit. I went to Napa with the O-ring numbers, they took me to the back and had a bin full of them -
Tips to keep jeep from over heating
MJam86 replied to Campbellbrothers's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
What type of wheeling are you doing (mud/rocks/fire trails)? Still using closed system? What temp are you getting up to? I did hood vents, run a 195 tstat, and run my E-fan while on trails, I flushed coolant once and have never really had an issues with getting too hot. I'm wheeling in 80+ degree weather in these California summers. -
I did it to mine for about $400

Goodyear Gator Back belt squeal
MJam86 replied to hillbilly51's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Next time you pull the belt off, spray it with degreaser and clean it with a rag. I replaced everything on mine including a new belt. It didn't squeak for a couple weeks and then started again. Someone told me to use bulb grease on belt, that worked for 2 days. I pulled belt off, cleaned it with degreaser, and then did same with each pulley -

I wanted a front locker for the D30 but didn't want to spend another $1500 like I did for the 44 because I don't plan to keep the 30 for too long. I decided to go with Lokka, it took them about a week to process my order and then I got free 2 day shipping from Australia and it's stamped made in Australia. I know nothing of this US/China garbage everyone else is talking about other than what I read on their website. Other than when I broke my front DS I have not had to use my rear locker on any trail. My Lokka locker has worked great!

Here you go! http://www.omcoffroad.com/apps/webstore/products/show/4057581 They're decent, could've made them for less but I didn't think about that. I like them it makes the bar act like a permanent sun visor but it doesn't sit too low

2 Wheel Drive To 4 Wheel Drive Conversion
MJam86 replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If it doesn't turn over, you should be looking at a weak battery, bad starter, bad starter solenoid, or bad starter relay.I fixed it a while back. It was my transmission and shifter not agreeing with what position what was in
