  1. I have a question and I'm hoping someone on here can give me an answer. I bought a 87 mj 4.0 that had been converted from 2 wheel to 4 wheel and from a manual to an auto. When the manual to auto conversion was done none of the auto harness was installed. I bought a harness and tcu from an 88 xj and I still can't get the trans to shift. I'm tired of fighting with it and found a 90 xj 5 speed. My question is can I take everything (trans transfer case driveshaft hydraulics and pedal assembly and bolt it straight to my mj?
  2. I bought an mj that had been converted from manual to auto but still had all the manual wiring. I went to a junk yard and got all the wiring and tcu from a xj. Everything installed the trans still doesn't shift. The trans fuse in the fuse block and the inline fuse to the tcu are both good. The tcu is getting power and the plugs the go to the trans harness only 1 wire has power. Can anyone give any input on what to look for or tell me what wires should have power and when? Any help would be greatly appreciated
  3. I'll have to check into that plug and see if it is there. I got the cab harness from the xj to I just haven't installed it yet. Could that be the problem? Is the actual cab harness different from auto to manual? I did look into the manual and it doesn't really show anything about not shifting just harsh shifting or not downshifting but i will keep looking. Thanks for everyone's help if you can think of anything let me know
  4. I don't have any reverse lights. The trans fluid looks clean and red and it won't shift any gears by itself I have to manually shift it. The tcu fuse is good and is getting power. Trans fuse in the fuse block is good also
  5. I bought a 87 jeep Comanche that has been converted from a manual to an auto trans and from a 2 wheel drive to a 4 wheel drive. When I got the truck the engine bay harness didn't have the plugs that go to the trans harness or the tcu. I went to a junk yard and pull all of the harness and tcu from an 88 Cherokee. I got the engine bay harness installed along with the tcu but my trans still won't shift on its own. I still have to manually shift it. I checked the fuses and everything is getting power. I adjusted the tps and rechecked the plugs and everything looks good. Am I missing something that anyone can help me out with? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  6. I bought a 87 mj that had been converted from manual to auto and 2 wheel to 4 wheel drive. When the conversion was done none of the harness was converted to the auto harness and the wiring is all jacked up. I went today and pulled the dash, engine bay, and motor harness from an 88 xj auto 4 wheel drive. I get home and noticed that the engine bay harness that was in my truck has some plugs that the donor harness dleant have and the donor harness has some that the one from my truck doesn't have. My question is will the donor harness still work as long as everything hooks up that is stil in the truck?
