  9. I agree with John 100%. I get the budget build thing but cut corners elsewhere!
  10. Sorry 'Top'! My apologies!! I'm glad some old timers like myself are still in!!! Thank you for your service. My daughters with I MEF at Del Mar. Things have surely changed from 92 when I got out!!
  11. No Shelby. A gentlemen that is still in. He's stationed at the school. Semper Fi as well though Sir!
  12. Good luck with the build! Ft Lost in the Woods...was there in 87 at the Heavy Equipment school(Marine as well!) If I'm not mistaken there is another member there at the Motor T school. He has lots of stripes!! Thank you for your service and I'm keeping an eye on your build. Semper
  13. Yes it would be from a 2.5.
  14. I have an 87 2.5 4spd rwd. The 4spd needs to be rebuilt. It shifts but while in 4th gear you can't downshift to third. Just a quirk I deal with while driving. Other than that shifts fine through all gears. Now since the trans needs to be pulled is there any advantage to put a 5spd in its place. This isn't a 4x4 off-road Jeep, just an occasional driver. The reason I ask is I may be able to get a 5spd for a decent price. Are there any benefits at all of a 5spd over a 4 spd in my case?
  15. Very nice looking Comanche! How many miles on her? What are your future plans if any?
  16. http://comancheclub.com/topic/48463-cruisers-mostly-renix-tips/ Your Jeep is 27 years old....kinda like banging the dash to change the radio station...
  17. Thanks Hornbrod! Just was looking at that myself. Wasn't sure what year Comanche he had. Not sure if there were any changes between 86-92 on the fuse box. Ahhhh the power of Google!
  18. http://comancheclub.com/topic/45231-fuse-block-dissection/ Some info here about taking apart
  19. Just swapping a rebuilt one in. Are there any adjustments needed. An alignment done? Or just make sure I have the steering wheel in right position when putting in? I know it's the gearbox. While drivingthe steering wheel has a ton of play in it. Previously I've had tried just adjusting but it's long beyond that point. 29 years was a good lifespan for the part.
  20. Swapping out manual gearbox with... Yes another manual one. Anything I need to know about doing this swap. I searched the DIY section but didn't see anything on it. Just want to make sure I do this correctly without missing anything. 87 2.5 4spd. Any help or tips would be appreciated! It looks like it's a pretty clear cut swap but ya never know! Thank you!
  21. 8 grand? Yes I woulda took the money and bought another one! With that kind of money you could find a clean Jeep. Not sure if that type of circumstance is different state by state, what insurance you have or both. Had a similar situation when my daughter totaled my 05 Civic. Could have bought it back salvage but than would be titled salvage or eventually rebuild. Selling the car down the road would have been tougher, but I guess if I planned on driving the car until I junked it that could have worked. Then insurance would be another issue. I doubt your insurance would cover you on a vehicle they just paid out as totaled. The body shop owner told me in order to maintain the coverage that I previously had I would of had to have vehicle rebuilt to standardized safety specs that they have to adhere too for insurance to cover. Long story short... The owner of said body shop stated' I make a living fixing wrecks.... Take the money and run.. You made out!'

  23. Watched video. It runs. I like the added "it only needs 2 fenders, hood, doors and a bed..." Is this currently for sale? If so how much?
