  1. Did you integrate a mic to the head unit or was it over the phone mic? Either way it's cool, just curious...
  2. Looks an awful lot like a Nate’s 4x4 rear bumper. Interestingly they’re in Midland, MI which is in spitting distance of this listing. Coincidence, probably not. http://www.nates4x4.com/Comanche_Rear_Bumper_p/mjr.htm
  3. No worries boss, I was curious to see it :-)
  4. Might wanna screen shot it, i tried to check it and it's a closed group
  5. All of this is assuming I can find one in a local JY and have the time and $ to do so. I am pretty much booked and tapped out of Jeep $ right now so this may be a next year or whenever the opportunity presents itself.
  6. Very good point on the operational range...
  7. Oh, I do not plan to replace the doors, but to get used doors with power locks and windows to source the parts into MY doors is WAY cheaper than buying the aftermarket replacements motors and regulators that do not come with wiring... Local JY sells doors for $50 a pop so both doors with everything I need to do this conversion would be cheaper than a single dorman motor/regulator for the passenger side.
  8. It looks like @HOrnbrods MJ has an extra trim piece inside the inner fender liner that yours does not. Highlighted below. That looks like the difference rather than the liners themselves.
  9. Yeah, I hear you. Honestly when it comes to jobs I'm not sure I want to do (or how to go about them) I always measure how much I'm willing to do a job myself vs pay somebody by how much I'll save divided by the hours it would take me and if that is more than I make at my job per hour, then I usually do it myself. With the MJ it's a bit different in that I don't want to waste the effort of screwing up the doors by trying to fab in something that wasn't supposed to go that way in the first place and then realize I could have spent a bit more and made it work the "right way". There's also the "fun" factor of the job. Putting an 8.8 in my MJ was mostly because I wanted to upgrade the rear and putting in an 8.8 would be fun. I'm an involved dad and husband and I work 50+ hours a week so it time for the MJ is slim between the honey do list and standard house owner maintenance. I'll probably just wait until the situation is right and I get power doors that work right for a decent price.
  10. Oh man, i hear you. I opted for an 8.8 in my MJ, cause I knew I was going to regear the 30 to 3.73s to run 32s. What size tire are you planning on?
  11. What rear are you going with? Sticking with the 35? I didn't see in your thread (glancing through) what your plan was for the rear axle.
  12. Sweet, I could swear I saw that MJ on craiglist recently. Welcome back!
  13. Just thought I'd share that the main page of the site is not displaying the new MJOTMs and still shows the August MJOTM as the most recent news posting... Just an FYI!
  14. Yeah, i know they're different part numbers and the motors are differently shaped... i was just wondering if anyone else had tried it since there was such a cheap set nearby... Thanks!
  15. The ball joints are pressed into the axle and the knuckle slides over them. Typically you would remove the retaining nuts that hold the knuckle onto the ball joints and it was come off by lowering it off the bolts. To do so though you MUST pull the axle and hub off the knuckle. In your photo the axle is still in which is what is preventing you from removing the knuckle. You should remove the hub and axle from the knuckle by removing the 3 retaining bolts that keep the hub in the knuckle and then pull the axle out. I believe you asked about removing the hub from the knuckle in a different post. Use the method recommended by using the bolts still slightly into the hub, through the knuckle, and pressing them using the power steering OR place a socket on the bolts and hammer out the hub. If you're certain the hub and knuckle cannot be separated and you're sure you want to replace the ball joints you could cut off the ball joint bolts and that would give you the clearance to remove the axle, hub and knuckle in one piece but that would be a last resort...
  16. That my friend is a Ball Joint. They're super fun to replace (sarcasm)... If you have the ball joint tool it's not that bad with an impact. Ball Joint tool kits can be "rented" at most auto parts stores. Ball Joints are typically also available at most auto parts stores. This vid is of a wrangler, but same front axle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAyjLXhVX54
  17. I'd like to add power windows to my MJ and there's a set of rear XJ doors with power windows for sale locally for really really cheap. Anyone know if the motors on these can be swapped into front doors? It doesn't look like the parts are the same for the XJs on front vs rear, but wondering if anyone has tried?
  18. Is the compressor engaging? If not it may be a leak or low on coolant. Check your spyglass to see if its running clear and if not then you should start there.
  19. I have found one but thank you!
  20. haha, that's hilarious... i've done a fair bit of plumbing in my time, but I still hate having to...
  21. I bet you're ready for a hot shower now! Congrats on the fix! So funny hot water heater story... my old water heater started a slow leak from the drain valve. I discovered it a bit late, but noticing it had a crack in the valve (and it's plastic) I decided to drain the tank and get a new valve at the hardware store for a mere $7. I hooked up a hose to the drain valve, ran it to a bucket and turned the valve. It was stuck but opened a little and water was slowly draining from the tank. After 30 mins I hadn't drained 5 gallons so I decided to use a pair of channel locks to turn the valve more to open it. Mind you I was home alone and the entire drain valve snapped off the tank and a 1" jet of water came out. So like anyone else I stuck my finger in there to stop the bleeding. With 30 gallons of water in the tank I was sitting there with my finger holding it in, and NO ONE ELSE even in the house. I felt like that kid with his finger in the dike... Eventually i thought to pull my shirt up over my head, slide it down my arm and jam it into the hole with a screwdriver... Fun times
  22. Wow, i'm kinda surprised... Honestly I've never looked for front axle parts for my MJ because I swapped in an XJ front D30 from a '95. Do you know what your gear ratio is? At $150 for a knuckle you "might" be better off getting a D30 from a newer XJ with matching gears. They bolt right up in every sense... PS. I'll keep looking but you're right, all I'm seeing is knuckles for 90+...
  23. According to Summit and 4wheelsupply 19030 is for the XJ: http://4wheelsupply.com/lund/visors/moon-visors-jeep.htm https://www.summitracing.com/parts/lnd-19030 For the MJ I've seen references to 19040 and AP3 as the part numbers, but none are from official sources (eBay etc)...
  24. The part numbers are swapped in that thread... 19040 is MJ and 19030 is XJ
  25. Nice, have you settled on what you're doing for bumpers? Stock 97 front?
